more tanks/squads lost than available

it seems that sometimes in battle report squads/AFV destroyed are more than those that were available.
Could be a minor bug

I believe the left total colum just counts active parts so non-disrupted/-damaged actively taking part in battle. Losses, especially on retreat, may also account for damaged left behind (repair yards overrun)

this is 37th tank division TOE from the editor;
i.e
3+31 =34 T-34 M1940
1 KV-2 M1940
3+255 = 258 BT-7M M1939

the left column in battle report is the actual TOE at the beginning of the battle.

the destroyed column in battle report shows more afv/units than available

Damaged element when destroyed is counted twice 1) as normal kill and 2) destroyed damaged. Since elements can change state from ready to damaged during the course of the battle, total destroyed can go higher than initial element count when "destroyed damaged" check box is on.
