Minor oddity?

I've noticed on land battles, that the results of the battle that flash briefly (losses for each side) often-very often--do not reflect the actual results. I can understand, with the 'fog of war' adding a good element, that you may not know exactly how much the 'other side' loses but am surprised how often the actual result of losses is different than what is flashed as the battle happens. Am I missing something?

I realize, as a practical matter, it makes little difference because you can see what happens to your units but I was just curious.

You can increase the delay in the options bar.

The damage does not reflect a unit overrun or destroyed in combat if I remember
