Add Resource Scacity Option at Galaxy Creation

Post by Artophwar »

Currently I find that the game has too many resources. There is little reason to fight over resources as having one to a couple of sources seems to pretty much fill the need even without mining tech.

I want the have a fight over a few strategic systems that have key resources and for the mining tech to matter a lot more then it currently does.

We can set home systems to be lacking but the rest of the galaxy still has a large abundance of resources for everyone to share.

+1 to this.
I was hoping to do just that in my next game. Would really add to the replayability.

I think this is a really good idea, it'd add to the game's customisability.

I was able to get a really resource scarce game in DW:U by fiddling with the game settings, it seems a bit harder to do in this one.

Would love to see this as well, along with options for resource clustering.

I wish it was part of the game by default and I'm not sure why it isn't. But still, I'd love to see it implemented, just to find out how it would work.

It can only involve luxury resources though, as not having access in a semi-easy way to the 14 (IIRC) construction resources would just crash any empire easily.
You can consider that the fight for resources is the fight for the few luxuries that are outstanding compared to others, like a fight for Lotros fruits.

In this context, I also miss that each race had some special semi-rare ressources in DWU that gave additionol boni and made it more valuable.

I think it should have like three options. For common construction ones like steel, for rare ones like carbonite or hexodorium and for luxury.

I myself experienced a huge carbonite shortage in my first game and now similar for hexodorium. In my initial territory and in the territory of two AI that I conquered there are like five hexodorium mines. 5%, 11%, 13%, 17% and 29% abundance.

Also hundred years from game start and a few dozens of colonies later luxury supply became a scarce thing. Weird logistic system that ignore some resources and send freighters to transfer hundred pieces of steel instead of full load of luxury do not help with it ever.
