subs and torpedo specialty

Post by generalfdog »

would Subs benefit from the torpedo specialty or the surface combat specialty during convoy attacks?

From the Manual:
Naval units in convoy lanes attack production and oil points with their surface combat value.

Torpedo specialty means the submarine gets a "free attack" at a Strength of 2 before it enters combat when you attack a fleet.

Of course I could be all wrong.

Sorry for using this old thread but I was looking, on the forum, for a less obscure definition than the one in the game or in the manual for Torpedo specialty.

What does it mean in the game? The unit having it has really a chance to do a third attack in its turn?

When I read possible 1st strike attack? Is it with 100% chance?

Does it benefit only for the unit, having the specialty, or for all the units in the naval stack?
Same question for Tactician specialty, is it for the whole naval stack or just for one unit?

Thanks

Found this, Alvaro is indeed speaking of an extra round but I don't get it if this is within your turn or enemy turn.

Think of a DD torpedo run before the guns fire.

Yes so they are firing first, but does it count as a naval operation or not?

I am confused with the "free attack" stated above in this thread.
