Artillery question

Post by William the Silent »

In artillery equipment you have AP, AT and D strenght.
What strenghts are used in offensive combat and defensive combat?

Lets say a unit has artillery with AP10 and D2.
Does it use AP10 when it attacks and D2 when it gets attacked?
Or can artillery use its AP10 strenghts for defense?
That would be logic/realistic?

Actually artillery should be stronger in defensive positions.

All these figures are relevant irrespective of whether the artillery is supporting an attack or a defence- same goes for any equipment.

Anti-personnel strength is the effectiveness of the equipment and destroying ground equipment which does not have an armoured flag. This is aggregated for the entire unit (excluding any equipment out of range for long-range support).

Defence strength is how resistant the equipment is to enemy anti-personnel fire. Artillery tends to have lower defence strength than infantry so if exposed to enemy fire it is more likely to be destroyed. However as artillery has the "passive defender" flag it is not normally exposed to enemy direct fire unless fighting on the defensive against direct attackers coming from two non-adjacent hexes.
