using the allied air force tactically. Ground attack or Ground support?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

using the allied air force tactically. Ground attack or Ground support?

Post by sven6345789 »

In War in the East 2 ( soviet side) i use my air assets mostly in the ground support role.

But in this game, i am not sure.
Still Torch scenario.
It is difficult to get an idea of the effect of ground attack missions ( interdiction).

Right now, I exclusively use them on Ground attack missions, with primary targets being interdiction and units. It seems to have an effect.

Still, I am not sure if ground support would have more effect.

any ideas?

Another question is regarding sea control. I seem to get better results if i do not send them on missions but let them do it automatically ( automatic sea patrol on). The units in Tripoli control all the Tunisian coast all the way up to Tunis without missions. seems to be more effective.
am I wrong?
