opponent required

Post by DmitryN »

posted 2 games:

usual ELO 1939 campaign with me as axis. Only experienced opponent required

1942 scenario with me as axis. Any player is welcome.

Both password 1234

Let me explain why is it interesting to play 1942 scenario.

1. Majority of games end 1941-42 as it is clear who win at this stage, and for many players it is not interesting to continue. The basic set up of 1942 scenario, the amount of troops and resources is absolutely in favour of allies. It is absolute impossible to survive as axis till 1947 against somewhat equal player. So initially for both players the intrigue of the game is not who wins, but till what moment can axis resist, and thus the probability of playing the game till the end is much higher.

2. Scenario provides more interesting set up for play between weaker allies and stronger axis player. E.g. for me now it is absolute not interesting to play against beginners as axis, and as allies the only challenge of interest is to hold France till Barbarossa. In 1942 scenario there is much more interest to play even against the beginner player, and I guess for him also.

3. You need to work out new strategy in different circumstances.

OK I have accepted the Axis Hight Tide 1942 Game. You and I haven't played each other in a long time.

I agree the High Tide scenario is set up well for the Allies, BUT the Axis player moves first and knows where all the opposition units are, so it is usually carnage for a few turns. Some of the Allied HQs and air units are very poorly positioned. And Russian morale is very low.

So in a PBEM match the sides are pretty even.

Good luck! I can usually play 2 turns or more a day.

I agree about the start. I have killed 3,6 of your HQ first turn (3,7 in game with jackmac) and surrounded a lot of units. Its the start like barbarossa. However russians have at start 7 HQ (against 3 in 1939 scenario), 70 land units of which only 3 is garrisons with fast 20 more land units in production queue. US have 7 armies and aditionaly 20 more land units in the begining with 4 carriers (and 3 in queue) etc. If i was in such a set ip in 1942 normal game i would 100% resign. but I will try to resist as long as possible

As my both 1942 scenario games went not so much in favour of allies as I initially thought, let me also try as axis 1943 scenario in which any any level opponent is required. Normal 1939 scenario with me as axis is also still open for experienced opponent. Both passwords are 1234

In case no one else wants the 39 match, I'd be interested in learning a few new tricks. I doubt the overall outcome is in question, but I'll try to make it as "unboring" as possible ;)

Ok, here we go. Standard ELO rules?
I'll also not use the early attack on Japan exploit.
