Reputation is a relationship.
DW2 is educating the players: that one must think outside the box of what they are presented with. READ: Sometimes ... one needs a better tool to accomplish a goal.
The question is: Who perceives who as reputable. A more complicated view of the empires that are encountered in the galaxy. So DW2 would need a better relationship viewer ... or reporting as it were.
The new betas mitigate penalties to reputation and their relation to diplomatic relationships and your own population happiness, especially if you are playing a warlike faction/government or dealing with another one. However, there should never be a case where invading is giving positive reputation.

Does the treaty get revoked if there is not an ambassador to maintain it?

Just an FYI, for a game started in 1.0.7.9 and continued in 1.0.8.0, I have noticed that the character automation has been moving ambassador characters around the map together.
E.g. 3 ambassadors start on my homeworld. All 3 are transferred to an Ackdarian homeworld, then a Zenox one, etc.

I'll let you know if I notice this issue again.

I have seen this too. Invading independent colony is a green and positive number. Im less confident to say I've seen integrated colony peacefully be red.
It is positive. It isn't a number of smaller magnitude.

Re: choppy performance
This has always been an issue. A ship hyperjumps, and when looking at it its location isn't updated frequently enough.
The other area is the ship design screen. I type a sentence in (e.g. Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over Lazy Dog), and end up with Quck rownfoj etc., because the input has been skipped by the program. DW2 is the only application this happens in on my PC, so my keyboard/typing style is not the issue.

Right now, in my eyes it would be really helpful to know not what you have patched in the patch, but what big bugs are known and still not solved.
Some people complain about fuel tankers not doing what they should, others say the fleets behave odd, the pathfinding acts crazy and so on..
When I try to play the game, all of this and much more nags me.
So it would be nice to see what things you are aware of and what you do not know and what should be reported.

Second point would be the road map. Where was that thread again?..
How comes the forum has so many old threads pinned at the top?
Can someone sort that out and pin useful threads to the top?
The forum in here at distant worlds 2 feels almost dead, except about less than a dozen bug hunters.
Everybody else stopped reporting and waits for a patch that makes this game play-/enjoyable.
Ok, there is discord - but thats not my thing - it feels like facebook on crack. and it does not addresses or helps more than this forum.

I've issued a 1080 save file. With respect to the DW2 reputation/diplomacy system:

There is also the notion: of not all folks' evaluation of 'proper' behavior and arriving at a standard reputation, are equal in their quality and wisdom to assess. This also includes throwing away any false information in order to determine the reasons for 'behavior'. Lies and propaganda are not always particularly helpful.

RE: BETA process and meta data:

Just a comment about leveraging the players, 'guinea pigs'/volunteers, ... every time a new software update is done it sort of invalidates any previous efforts to test the conditions properly ... not all folks have the time to scrutinize at the level of quality which you may need. (This is regarding the restart new game process needed. Good thing it is a Beta version!).

I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this?

I've got a game from 1.0.8.0 - now in 1.0.8.1 - where all events fire as if I were the race of the event.
e.g. I keep getting the event of "morale failure when meeting competing Haakonish empire" - but I'm Humans this game (had it last game, also started in 1.0.8.0 as Liir).

I currently have "Liberated of the Stars encountered" - and a blurb about knowing we Zenox cannot resist buying their information (albeit I am not offered any dialog in which to buy it - but I'm also Human, not Zenox, this event makes no sense).

I did mod the game events very, very, very slightly. Just double checked that with a file compare - and the changes look inanely benign (couple of places where vscode removed trailing spaces within descriptions, and where I changed references from "vectoring engine" to "engine" since my mod doesn't use vectoring engines (albeit they still exist in tech tree & components, they're just not normally available).

Not sure what would cause the game to decide "I am every race" --

I also got the "are you boskarans who enslaved us" - in both 8.x games - once as Liir, and now as Humans. Obviously, that should not fire.

Also, when I click on an empire in diplomacy and the camera moves to it, why does the camera have a fit?

From a valid beta testing point of view, as Erik requested, the proper changes in 1.0.8.1 to ameliorate reputation and diplomacy can only be obtained by starting a new game session.

No, the ambassador should only be required to be there to initiate the treaty.

The pinned roadmap thread (in this forum) will tell you what we are focusing on. In terms of the known issues, these change with each version as past issues are solved and new ones come up. It's not only a moving target, but a large list. The roadmap is the best summary of our main concern areas, along with continuing to fix crash and performance issues.

I have not seen it on a new 1.0.8.1 game, as I have not played long enough in-game yet. Work in progress.

Can you suggest a process for doing so?
The file upload limit on this forum is 10 MB, and the file is 50 MB.
Email also not an option - email file size limit is 25 MB.

One CTD so far.
Fleets do not invade/start jumping till to zoom to them. Maybe a fighters problem. Will test tomorrow with only ships without fighters (will change all designs). It does not help. Ships even get not retired till to zoom to them. Fuel tankers try to refull full ships. Not all war target colonies are shown under targets, not even the capital city, although it is shown in diplomacy view.

I forgot an invade fleet is next to an enemy colony and the invasion not start.

Would be easier to test with all techs researched for all races at generation, till now only lvl 7 is selectable.
