Building the tiles and tile map for Don so he can start cranking on Monty's Front: OVERLORD...

Image map will be glorious...I think.

There are now three types of roads--Highways, Roads, and Tracks.

The "bocage" and its difficulties of movement as well as the FOW that it induces could be a real challenge...very interesting I think.

Developer's Note: After much thought, I've decided to ditch the 500m model as an acceptable standard for WEGOWW2. I think it was a good fit for the Stalingrad city fight--a peculiarity--but it is too much of a departure from the main stream of the WEGOWW2 game system--the operational level. Expect a consistent dedication to 2500m per hex from this day forward.

The Monty's Front: OVERLORD designer/developer is onboard with this decision and has presented substantive solutions for our dedication to WEGOWW2 unit and ground scales--brigade/regiment and 2500m per hex.

Rebuilding the OVERLORD map. This will be WAY smaller at 2500m per hex so but a short time to complete. Hope to be in BETA for OVERLORD and MARKET-GARDEN by Spring. See you there!

No. You didn't miss it. St Ruth delivered the first game build for Monty's Front suite. Work effort has switched to providing Don Timian the tools he needs for Monty's Front: OVERLORD. Salerno will follow shortly after that. Heavy movements in play.

To be clear, Salerno is the lowest priority in my day-to-day. Monty's Front is THE enterprise.

On Bocage...at 2500m per hex...

bocage
noun
bo·cage bōˈkäzh

: countryside or landscape (as of western France) marked by intermingling patches of woodland and heath, small fields, tall hedgerows, and orchards.

A tough idea to implement in a game map using period, historical maps and the modern Google Earth. Working...

Upgrades...

One more day and I'll be passing this tile-based map off to Don. Then I'm back to Market-Garden. Will create the image-based map once the tile map is approved.

A new feature in WEGOWW2: Monty's Front Trilogy is the observation point. A ground unit located in an observation point has its intelligence range extended by one hex.

In the bocage of Normandy, possession of church steeples was a significant factor in the accurate delivery of mortar and artillery fires upon the enemy. The scenario designer can place this terrain feature anywhere he sees fit...hilltops, church/cathedral locations, expansive open areas, etc.
