divert supplies

Post by pookiebear »

is it possible to divert supplies from lets say agc to agn by reducing all frontline for agc to prio 3 and for agn prio 4?
or its pointless cause the supplies that wouldve gone to agc is different rail lines anyway and supplies are infinite pretty much

You need to look at the color of the railway in the south. If they are yellow, then you will not be able to bring more cargo to the south.

so if the capacity is there ...putting lets say entire agn prio on 3 while agn on prio 4 will cause supplies that were headed for agc go to agn?

is it a way to influence wich army groups u can prioritise? i know on the corps level it works like that but on a grand scheme of things? is it a way to control wich supplies headed to wich agn needs it at the time?

Yes, this is a way to regulate supplies, but only if you have a free railway. If your railways are overloaded, then you will not be able to increase the supply in this way.

HQ supply priority does not mean what you think it means. It does not prioritise the order HQs receive freight - it simply decides how much they ask for. Supply priority 4 means HQs will demand freight to go above 100% supplies & fuel needs. 3 means HQs will demand freight to stay around 100% supplies & fuel needs, and you keep adjusting for 2, 1 and 0.

You could set all the AGC Depots to say 3 or 2 (from 4 or 3) and then put all AGN Depots on 4, and then also setting all of AGN HQs on Supply Priority 4 and all of AGC HQs on Supply Priority 1. I would not do this long term (3-6 turns) but short term (1-4 turns).

Give it a try and let us know.

In general, you are unlikely to be able to redistribute supplies in this way. The system usually delivers the maximum amount of cargo. It is better to have all the depots near the front at level 4, but lower the supply level of your headquarters. Although in my games I always keep all the headquarters at the 4th level of supply and the supply system works fine, provided there is a sufficient amount of working railway.

I do agree with you here Malyhin, and I'd never do as I'd suggested, it was just my off the cuff suggestion as a try based on my knowledge of the game. I have not really had a reason to "divert" supplies and hence my I would not do it long term in my suggestion.

Generally I like having all my Armies as well close to the supply need/required status.

It is absolutely logical to try to have maximum supplies in the depot and in units. This is not possible only if there is insufficient railway capacity or if there is a lack of supply in the pool due to insufficient production in factories. Therefore, if you have a shortage of supplies in the south, which happens in all games for the Germans, then you should repair all the railways in the south as quickly as possible, and also set up ports to deliver supplies from Constanta to the Soviet ports of the Black and Azov Seas. In my games, I also set up the port of Odessa for export, this can be useful when supplying through the ports of the Crimea and the Sea of Azov.
