Centre line, Internal/ external etc for bombs esp.

Post by Cavalry Corp »

Is CL load out more accurate for bomb/ TT weapons than say external or internal - seems like for TT bombers it may be...

We know for aircraft weapons it is as they show as more accurate on CL verses Front. So could this also be the case for bombers - is there some sort of hidden modifier?

I saw a point made about TT bombers doing level bombing with two much accuracy in stock the Kate for instance has CL for its bombs, could that explain? But in my game avengers seem to show too much accuracy too but their bombs are listed as Internal - any thoughts on this please.

Hi:

The Avenger was designed to carry its torpedo and/or bombs in an internal bay.

Not sure if it even had bomb attachment points on the wings. It was a heavy airframe and getting off the deck even with a catapult was tough. No need to dirty up the wings.

The Kate was a generation behind the Avenger, just like the Devastator was a generation behind the Kate.

Of course the American torpedoes were all inferior to the Japanese ones until the USN ordnance folks got their heads out of the a$$es.

Because of weight and torpedo-centric design, the Avenger and Kate were also both level bombers. The Avenger crews also became very adept at glide bombing, hence the high accuracy. This allowed the Avenger to be an outstanding port and land-target attack plane where torpedoes were inappropriate.

As far as bomb station versus accuracy, the pilot aims the airplane, not the weapon. The controlling physics for all unguided weapons is the vector of the aircraft, not the position of the weapon on the airplane (except for free-mounted or turret guns.

All that being said, I know the designers are aware of these facts and wrote the code accordingly.

It has nothing to do with CL/EXT on TT bombers. It seems the code uses the torpedo routine for each bomb dropped (or stick of bombs dropped) from a TT bomber , hence higher accuracy of TT attacks with bombs
