[FIXED] Aircraft loses loadout after Ferry mission

Post by HalfLifeExpert »

I'm honestly not sure if this should go in Tech Support or not, so I'll share here.

NOTE: I am playing with the Latest Beta: Build 1299.1

I'm playing Gunner98's scenario NFZ Med 2022. Early in the scenario, I decided to forward deploy 4x Greek F-16s from Crete to Cyprus.

I used a ferry mission, with the F-16s retaining their A2A loadout.

They reached Cyprus with no issues, but when I examined them after they all landed, one of the aircraft was kicked back to the 'Reserve' loadout, and I was unable to re-arm it with it's AMRAAM loadout.

Now RAF Akrotiri in the scenario does not have munitions to support the Greek loadout. I fully understand this. I wanted to forward deploy the F-16s to backup the RAF Typhoons already there. Shouldn't the loadout remain on the aircraft if no ordinance was expended? That's what seems to have happened with the other 3 F-16s in the flight

I'm not sure why one of my F-16s lost it's loadout. I'll attach a current save.

I'm going to keep playing the scenario as is, considering the lost loadout to be representative of an aircraft with a malfunctioning weapons Avionics, so will need to return to Crete once ready. I've given it a Ferry loadout for this purpose.

I'm not on the beta but I've done forward deployments like you describe before and you're correct. If aircraft haven't expended any ordnance then they should still have whatever they flew in with available after the refuel and the pilot takes a whiz.

I will take a test later today. Here is my guess: drop tank are depleted in the air so they are counted as lost equipment.

From what I remember drop are always 'available' and don't get depleted. BSW

Interesting
They lost one piece of HARM, one SPICE 2000 , one SPICE 1000 , one AMRAAM and one IRST during landing?

Do you have a save game? I'd report that as a bug.

I have used close by airfields to refuel armed aircraft before multiple times, particularly long range patrol aircraft where it takes them 4+ hours to get from their original base to where I need them to patrol. As long as they don't expend any munitions you can just keep refueling them but drop one ASM or torpedo and they won't fly out armed again. BSW

That is from the scenario attached by HalfLifeExpert.

OK
My guess this is not LOST on landing, but rather some error happens after the ammunition sent into the storage first then take out. (Probably some formula error on one of the program line? )

Will do more testing later.

Is there a setting for modeling corrupt supply sergeants? :)

When I first ran into this issue in the OP, I elected to write it off as representing an aircraft who's weapons avionics had malfunctioned, like from a power surge or something.

Now that I see it's not a one-off, it's clearly a bug
