Idiocy

Post by Courtenay »

Do other people do things like carefully indicate which oil dependent units are not being reorganized on the Use Oil form, and then hit "Done" without hitting "Reorganize All", so that everything stays disorganized? And then not notice until the Naval Air step of the first impulse of the next turn?

And I don't even want to think about the mistakes I make at the Stay at Sea step. I often have to go back to that step after getting to the return to base step and discovering that something is drastically wrong, like the North Atlantic losing all CPs.

Grumble.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

I don't use to play with oil. When I begun to do it, it happened to me all the time, we had to reload a high number of times.

Now I know it is a part where you will be very prone to mistakes, so I make veeeery slow extra-careful moves.

Yes. Don't do it so much anymore. It's what saves are for, I guess.

Your not the first to make these kind of mistakes. I used to make a mess out of the stay at sea phase too. So now I circle through all seazones to check if the convoys are staying there.
And the use oil phase is also a place to keep a close eye on things, as is of course the preliminary production phase.

I've made huge mistakes in those phases too.

Yep, me too. You would think after 100's, maybe 1,000's of hours playing I would know better.
For convoys you have to double check any sea zone if there was a battle there and convoys were included. The game will un-sentry all the convoys.

Or know how to edit a file and change their RTB flag to staying at sea. :D

Cheating...

I'm always afraid that if I change the wrong line, things will go very, very wrong...

That's why I encourage folks to make a backup before doing any editing. :)

By the way, editing the stay at sea flag is a very simple and safe edit. Only 1 number and you just change the 0 or 1 to a 2. And Walla ... the CP is no longer returning to base but is staying at sea.
