Slow ships fall foul of modern DD raider. CVE was sunk. also two big TK sunk near Darwin by Sub. 3 bombardments carried out as well.
DEI adventure is costing allies attrition every day now.

Wow, Dean seems really okay with throwing ships away like this...I wonder why?

Re: Empire Mod PBEM ( From 1 Jan 43) 2 days turns realistic R+D - no Dean
He took them away to do a bombardment.
He lunges very deep its ok when his CV are around but when they are not i do some trashing - and we have an undetected BC TF about to advance on Sidat and maybe catch some CV ??
btw lots of play balance tweaks coming in 2.0b and lots of tiny refinements to make things as best they can be. Just consulting with Dean on the last issues...
• V2.0b
• Increased HI Res in from 19 to 20. LI Res in from 16 to 17. And removed some damaged Industry from Japan.
• House Rule amendment- One attack per day turn in the restricted rough hexes before 1944, two thereafter.
• Early Matsu class DD delayed around 2 months each - cohesion and play balance.
• Slightly reduced build size of some more PI/DEI/ Australia bases. Play balance and game pace.
• Engines on G6N1 corrected from 4 to 6, SR to 5, date to 6/43 - correction
• Slightly increased damage/days to some CLAA/CAV upgrades – cohesion
• Slightly recalculated a few ship ranges – cohesion
• Slightly tweaked small Japanese ship Guns and ASW on new research, play balance.
• Slightly improved most allied CVE Mvr and Durability ratings.
• Reduced or removed Japanese TT re loads on CA, 44 onwards. Realism, with improved and heavier AA during 44
upgrades.
• Hatsuharu class DD last late war TT upgrade missing – corrected
• Shiratsuyu class DD – small AA issue 4/43 upgrade – corrected
• Earlier 120mm DP gun replaces 127mm DP guns on Japanese CV / CVL/ CVE prior to May 42.
• TOE issue with 9th Australian Division – corrected, hangover from the previous base mod.
• Added 12 more in total mid war onwards allied AK/AKA/AP/LSI(L) and gave some AK/AKA some modest troop lift-
More allied lift capacity needed.
• Added 6 more allied Support ships, mid war onwards, AKE/AE and AS.
• Tweaked allied PT boat ranges up a touch and one or two other PT tweaks on both sides- play balance/ cohesion.
• One or two aircraft arrival date tweaks.
• Aircraft rocket load out tweaks, marginal improvements to rockets.

Re: Empire Mod PBEM ( From 1 Jan 43) 2 days turns realistic R+D - no Dean
4th 5th Sept 43 allies enter Cul De Sac with CV so we decide to send in a surface TF - alas they hold off too long and get bombed, BUT U boat over several phases sinks Ark Royal with 3 TT. I have a lucky escape with two BC damaged and on CA damaged.
These are the lessons -
DEI is not a good place to operate CV for any side.
Allies have failed to get to grips with my subs - Both sides have more and the U boats seem to be better than the Jap Subs
Allied subs are not being used anything like enough - this is Deans big mistake. Japanese ASW is worse in the mod early war he should be taking full advantage. Too many inconclusive allied landings.
Allied CV planes flying ASW when he should be using ships more to escort and clear subs.

11TH Sept 1943
Japanese sub gets lucky again of the coast of Australia because I feel the CV IS in a slow TF. Dean still does not take enough notice of subs.
Rare appearance by Italian submarine near Rangoon ( one of them that was in the Pacific) , sinks 3 small un escorted freighters in one turn!
Allies bombard Moulenhiem - we expect an assault ( but we are in level 6 fort and lots of supply) - my CV 2 x TF and one STF... leave Singapore in case there is an opportunity.

Oct 8th 43
One allied Convoy found... no escort.
Also a shot of what the Fuso class looks like as hybrid. I reduced the aircraft slightly to 18 as they are slightly smaller. This mod has 3 of this class and 3 Ise class. 4 have been lost including all 3 Ise class. Seems to me best convert them so they can escort the slow CVL and free up my remaining BC for better use on the fast TF. I see no real chance for them in 44 in any sort of surface capacity anyway.
Note I considered they had one less magazine so pinched up the durability on conversion also allowing for odd safety improvements as well but then took a tweak off that again because of the aviation stuff.
FYI I read the Japs had plans to convert them all to this format. In my mod they are bit more useful as the Japanese have better FP available generally. I would only have considered keeping them as BB if I had say lost all three other better BB Mutsu,Nagato and Tosa (lost Tosa and Nagato though).
