[1.1.3.5] Revolving Revolution

Post by Thineboot »

Game started in [1.1.3.4], in case this matters.

You can dismiss an unfit character and wait for a replacement to arrive.
Some revolutions promote an existing character to the position of administrator.
Some revolutions end with the appearance of a new administrator.

The latter can be done in endless cycles, swapping Republic for Path of the Ancient, for example.

When you end up with a Corrupt, Demoralizing, Lazy, Poor Administrator, Poor Speaker, Weak directly appointed Supreme Leader for 300 years, you might start to wonder who is/are the brain-dead praising the new Path of the Ancient and appointing the least capable person for 300 years as their Supreme Leader?

And no, that's not a theoretical question...

Randomization is fine, as long as the result makes at least some sense.
For any change of leader, unless it's a coup d'état, at least give us (and the AI!) some choice. We may not be able to dictate elections but we should be able to steer our empire in a certain direction. Whether or not we succeed or not is another question. I know there is recent evidence that even democracies can go nuts, but at least not for centuries.
Again, randomization is fine, just give us and them (AI empires) at least some chance to evaluate the candidates and choose someone other than the above.

As for testing, I'm pretty sure there are several combinations, and no, I didn't keep the above example, I'm not completely nuts, I just wanted to make you aware of a problem, at least I think this is a problem.
There is a workaround, so everyone can deal with it. But while we can avoid this insanity, the AI can't.

Agreed 100%.
Things like a Technocracy being led by a Luddite - shouldn't be possible.
A Hive Mind shouldn't even possibly have a Famous leader be possible.

I have burned through every single Scientist, General, Admiral, while trying to get a non empire lethal leader. The AI empires might dismiss their Corrupt leaders, but there are so many other toxic Traits.

BTW, beware, Dismissing a Leader cannot use the last of the replacement pool. Having a revolution CAN use the last of the characters.

So far, I've found several governments that add a new character through revolution rather than promoting an existing one.

Losing a competent character who has just been promoted is bad, losing an Ultra Genius like the aforementioned Technocracy is even worse - and the AI is helpless in these circumstances, as only we can reload and reverse such roulette.

[1.1.3.6] Way of the Ancient doesn't find a better Supreme Leader among a wide range of races in a Zenox empire than this one?!?

Way of the Ancient - New Supreme Leader
Way of the Ancient - New Supreme Leader

At least we now have an explanation for why the Ancient became ancient but didn't survive ;)

Side note: a revolution, at least Path of the Ancient >> Way of the Ancient, is a bloody mess, it's a revolution in the end. But colonies won't drop below 30 M :D
