Game play suggestion : Change Boskara assimilation rate from -40% when enslaving.

Post by tankacealpha »

This idea has come out of the slavery thread but I dont think it should be buried in that thread.

Currently The Bos have a -40% malus on assimilation, which makes sense, who wants spider overlords, no one welcomes them amirite?

However The Bos have slavery as a win condition but no content relating to that condition, slavery works for them the same as everyone else, one simple and quick way to fix this is to change their assimilation rate when enslaving from a malus to a buff Say from -40% to +30% or whatever balance dictates.

This then just makes the assimilation process scan rationally and in a non absurd way and also provides a reason for The Bos to actually be The Bos and play as their lore and win conditions dictate.

I disagree. Slavery is overpowered as is. No need to make it even easier.

Maybe OP if you use an exploit.

Also other game play elements dont have to remain static, seems reasonable that slavery should highly nerf research from colony population, if that is not already the case, it should be and that could easily balance gains from slavery if balanced correctly.

That -40% means the Boskara themselves are harder to assimilate, not that they have a harder time assimilating others.

It is intended that if you want to RP warlike enslavers that you should conquer a world, enslave it and provoke a rebellion, crush the rebellion and gain assimilation, etc. Once the assimilation reaches 100%, slavery will be quite profitable for the Boskara as well. We will revisit slavery in the near future to make it more interesting and also improve the AI's management of it.

There's also the peaceful assimilation route, which costs much less population and just takes more time and some support costs, but fewer troops.

Ok, but purposefully provoking rebellion is always going to seem cheesy and like an exploit and I am really struggling to think of any real world example of this concept or even a context in which it makes any sense.

I get it - the balance and automation on that needs to improve for certain.
