Aircraft Range and Load out

Post by jason oates »

When Readying aircraft is there a way to judge the effect of the load out on range? Im playing Canary Cage where the Spanish aircraft operate at the far end of their range. I was wondering if i could get a few more miles by altering the weapons load but i cant see anywhere that tells me if there is a difference.

Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere else.

The weapon load outs are set as a package. You can't really alter the individual weapons. The loadout's estimated range can be seen in the db viewer if you click on the aircraft's link in the Air Ops window.

Hi Thanks for the reply. I understand the weapons are packages, my enquiry was whether there is a difference between each package regarding the range, caused by weight drag etc. Carrying 2 AMRAAMs and 2 AIM-9z must cause less drag and weigh less than a much heavier load and allow for greater range for a given package. If this is the case then im not sure where to see a comparison so i can choose the load out that will give me the greatest range. Surely a commander would have this option available to him?

That information is displayed in the database viewer, aircraft loadouts.

Just an example:

Surely he would and does. It includes nm range, loiter time, etc. It also shows the RCS impact further down the screen. Not sure what more you are looking for.

That is correct, 2 AMRAAMS + 2 AIM-9 provide less drag and increase the combat range compare to 6+2 loadout.

I converted CAP range to escort range before, but didn't finish the project.
