Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm scenarios in Southern Storm

Post by iPhoneAppz »

Are the Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm scenarios and maps going to be ported forward to Southern Storm? If not, is it possible for the community to do it?

That is our plan for the Central Storm DLC. The first DLC for the new game engine.

Awesome! When can we expect that DLC?

I hope you’d consider other theatres and time frame with DLCs at a later date with the same engine. Korea 85 or Korea 2006/2023 would be good. Ukraine 2022 would be great but perhaps not possible.

95ish is really the cutoff for the Cold War game engine. We want to do a Modern War game engine in the future to handle all of the features required for a Modern setting.

As for other decades in the Cold War and locations, we want to do many and we are putting together a content team to work on those projects.

Basically, we want the Cold War game engine to cover the action from 48 to 95, where there is large action on fairly open terrain. That takes things through Desert Storm, the Iran-Iraq war, and many Mid-East conflicts, to name a few. When you talk WW2 and some other shorter range-based conflicts, we need a separate World Wars game engine with a different scale and feature set. Same for Modern, with scale and a ton of more features to support all of the tech changes and some future guesses as well.

Once again I have to say I'm really enjoying FC:SS.
I was wondering if its possible to have access to and use for player designed scenarios using FC:Red Storm and Germany Reforger maps (just the maps - nothing else) ?

I have not played RS or GR but I looked up map hex sizes and they all appear to be the same 500 meters. I know the game engines from the two games are too different to play across the titles.

Just a thought. The only game I ever posted up my scenario creations was Steelbeasts (original and Pro PE). But I may want to try with this game after I've played most of the scenarios from both sides, which would take me a long long time.

I found these two bits of info that almost answered my inquiry above. The mention of historic WWII battles would be awesome with this wargaming engine imho. (lots of work involved, but it would be fun if it ever did happen)

Just a thought.
Have a nice day

Red Storm maps, scenarios and data are not compatible with the new game engine for Southern Storm. We are redoing most of the Red Storm and Germany Reforged scenarios and campaigns in the DLCs we are working on. So keep an eye on those in the future.
