Game Freezes During Multiple Attacks by Unit/Group

I'll report this here, but I believe that it has already previously been reported. If so, my apologies.

If I attack SEVERAL targets on a list (such as 4 buildings) from a single plane (or a group of planes), I often get a game freeze if the first attack is either a MALFUNCTION or it fails to destroy the target with the first weapon. If the target IS DESTROYED, then the program works fine. But, if the first weapon is unsuccessful, the program often freezes and renders a long message which seems to be associated with map issues. This only happens if there is a LIST of targets.

When the freeze occur, no planes move, but sometimes a few minutes after the freeze, a message pops up stating that some subsequent unreleased bombs that I did not see launched did destroy the target. This is almost like the game was continuing to be played, but none of the units are seen actually moving.

In each case, the only way out is to end the program as the units never move.

Hopefully, someone else has already reported it because it seems to happen all of the time. If not, I will provide some saves.

Could you provide a .save before the weapons are in the air so we can try to replicate it properly?

As indicated, two planes (armed with 2 GBU-10s) have been tasked with attacking 3 buildings. In the first save, each plane has launched one bomb.

After the second weapon resolution occurs the game freezes, and error message comes out.

The planes no longer move.

About a minute after the error message, a new pop up message indicates that a new weapon has attacked another building. The computer is then locked.

I just ran the "before" at 15x three separate times with no issues. Three targets destroyed with three bombs and both planes return to base.

The game has frozen every time that a missile misses. This last time was the worst. The entire computer had to be shut off, and unplugged. It took 30 minutes to restore.

I could not take a Screen Shot as the computer was not functioning. I did use my phone camera to take a picture of the screen with the error box. Notice, a bomb which was never launched while I was playing is now being reported as hitting something. So, even though the units were stationary, the game continued to play for a few minutes.

Did any of them fail to destroy the target or malfunction? As I said, the only time that I get this is when either of those two conditions are present.

If you ran it 15 times then surely you would have experienced a few malfunctions or missiles that don't completely destroy the target.

Perhaps they will be able to discern something from the error message.

Hi DwReese

Unfortunately I was unable to experience the freeze. In one of the runs one of the GBU lost guidance from the firing unit and miss the target, there were some log traces indicating that the weapon is blind, but apart from that the rest of the game continues without issues.

We will keep investigating the issue, if you encounter another situation maybe with another GBU that freeze your game, please shared it here.

Of the three runs, one GBU missed. Still no freeze. Log file might help also.

Did you see the screen shot that I sent? Perhaps that could help to discern where the problem/my problem is. It happens every time, shortly after there is a miss or malfunction.

Reading the Exception Log that popped up (and not knowing what I am really talking about), I see numerous references to WorldWind.

I also see (unknown if it is related) and Exception Handler Error which directs me to report it by taking a Screen Shot. It also states that the "Ex.InnerException Get Type () Argument Name Out of Range Exception"

Another says that the WorldWindowOn Paint Exception

Lots of talk about WorldWin CommandLayer

Some mention of not being in range. Expecting a non negative and less than the size of the collection Parameter name:Index

I don't know if you can see it. I took numerous shot with my phone. Some are better than others. This might at least provide some idea where this issue lies.

I am using Windows 10, and version 1328.12 along with the most current database. This was a handmade scenario which only contains a base with 8 planes, and 6 or 7 Buildings for Side B. It's just used for testing.

Yes, I just learned that the new Apple update changes the format to heic instead of jpeg. I switched it back, but not before I rebooted the entire computer several times to get it working again. It completely froze. A reboot wouldn't even work. I had to unplug it, and start all over. It took almost 30 minutes for it to all come back, and it needed to be rebooted several times.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. The Available RAM is good. And, the log entry stops after the second building is destroyed. It does capture the third building being destroyed, as indicated in the Status Window, but the planes never moved after the second, and they never launched at the third target. That all happened while the game was paused. Looking at the log, it just stops at that point.

FYI.......This is still an issue.

This seems to be centered around a situation where an attacker is FREE to attack MULTIPLE targets from a list. The unit will usually attack one target, but (as I mentioned before) the second attack is not seen, even though it takes places. After the second target is attacked the game freezes with the message that I provided before.

Additionally, if you have a plane(group) assigned to attack a list of targets, and upon arriving in the area, the plane/group discovers that ALL of the targets on the list are no longer there because they have been previously destroyed, the plane/group flies away (toward an undefined area) but eventually stops and begins flying around in a very tight circle.

I believe that all f these issues are tied to having units assigned to attack MULTIPLE TARGETS from a list. Since the attacking planes decide which units the are going to attack, then weird things start happening. If you assign a single plane to attack two separate targets, then everything seems to work just fine.

The list with MULTIPLE TARGETS where one has been previously destroyed is the issue.

I tested your example and had no issues so far however I am also experiencing intermittent freezes with other scenarios when aircraft are attacking ground targets. I'll try to add an example where I can get it to freeze on a frequent basis.
