Fuel consumption when not on the move outfield?

Post by Daza99 »

Regarding fuel consumption in general, if you have a unit like a Transport truck or tank out in the field and you leave them stationary in a hex for a number of turns, they still consume fuel. I presume because they might patrolling that hex? I believe if we send them back to SHQ they will no longer consume fuel while stationed there is that correct?

Evening,

I've looked specifically at this question about a dozen times in my games; watched it closely between turns I mean. My logistics are perpetually strained, and if they did use fuel passively those units would die. Afaik inactive fuel-consuming units do not consume fuel between turns.

Double check, please. If the unit has been attacked or something else, it would have used some fuel. Otherwise, it should use zero. If not, it's a bug.

They still eat though.

Stationary units do not use fuel, but if they're missing fuel in their stocks due to previous consumption, they will continue to request it from SHQ until their stocks are filled.
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

Thanks you guys for confirming that. I must of been looking at the wrong fuel stat. Brain fade on my part. I did recheck it again a few times and it, yeah not going down. But Don_Kiyote does make a good point that being attacked will use some fuel, so something I need to think about if I have vehicles in the field beyond the logistics range defending a border or there is a fuel crisis and I need to ultra conserve consumption, and maybe pull them back and only use them when needed.

Maybe it was because of your truck logistic assets? Thay consume some fuel to provide logistical points. You can check the oil drop icon with a number on top of the asset or use MNG>Assets and click the oil CONS cell in the top right table, it will filter all assets that are consuming oil. Btw. If you reach 0 oil you will have 0 logistics available ;)
