Same here. I stopped playing after the first beta release and all the data errors were discovered. I have a new clean install of WiTP-AE on the computer but haven't touched it since installing.

Some statistics: First proposal for a final patch: 4 Dec 2021 (917 days ago)
First Beta test patch released: 9 Nov 2022 (577 days ago)
Release candidate sent to Matrix (for "testing"): 12 Mar 2024 (88 days ago)
Total number of days the "final patch" project has existed: 1582 days (4 Dec 21 - 7 June 24)

Matrix obviously owes me nothing; especially for a free patch, and GP who I respect tries his best, but how about a real and official update from Matrix?

See here, it's only the half soon. When the full soon rises then we can howl havoc! and let slip loose the dogs of Eleanor...or the Emperor...or..

Hey. Soon rhymes with June. Maybe that's a clue.

Just release my cat Danny Boy. To put it politely, he most emphatically DID NOT want to go to the vet today. After over 10 minutes, with a torn shirt and both hands and forearms clawed, he got trapped in the shower/toilet room. He finally went into the pet carrier but not willingly.

You're a nutjob Platoonist. Fortunately for you, that's a compliment!

Yeesh! Rough day RJ... I was blessed with a Maine Coon I named Nimitz and he was much like the Admiral himself, a cool cucumber. I do still bear a few permanent marks from his unfortunate seizure episode though.

On the patch front, I am going to say June 25th, which happens to be my Pop's birthday. He would be 101 this year and served with VBF-16 in the Pacific.

The 100th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor raid will arrive soon on 7 December 2041.

I have it on as good authority as anyone else that they are aiming for that significant date.

No problem for me. I'll only be 89 then!

My real concern is will WiTP-AE (final) be compatable with the latest version of Windows 38 or the all new MS Doorways 1.20 when that great day arrives?

Edit. I know that throughout this torturous process I've been posting advocating patience, but that only carries me so far. Matrix doesn't seem to care one way or the other whether they finish "testing" this patch. That's too bad, and I hope all the dedicated people didn't waste their time and efforts trying to get this done.

So why not release it now as a beta instead of waiting for these Matrix clowns to approve it? JFC this whol thing has been a train wreck.

Disagree entirely with this statement. Patience is a virtue as the saying goes.

As topic header says, new version has been on Beta for quite some time...so, request is bit irrelevant.

Matrix part is more of preparing distribution, not making changes, it's the AE (voluntary) team that does changes.

I agree that calling Matrix "clowns" doesn't solve anything or make the patch come out any faster. I'll admit to getting sarcastic a post back myself, but frankly I do wonder just what is going on? I thought data entry and corrections were done by the volunteer design team and not Matrix? I also assumed Matrix was mostly concerned with packaging with an installer. Is that not the case?

GP: I might be wrong, but do you have any inside knowledge you can share? If things are NDA protected for some reason that's OK too and I understand. What I would ask in a sincere and hopefully a friendly way is why do forum veterans seem to get defensive and a bit aggressive when it comes to WiTP? The last post referencing "clowns", using "JFC", and "train wreck" was really over the line, in poor taste, and IMHO was just better off being ignored.

I don't regard myself as any type of moderator, and even though I've owned WiTP-AE since it's original release date, there is no way that I have the knowledge you and others do (just look at my join date and total forum post count - you'll see that I'm not a "regular" at all). Not trying to start anything, just asking.

Believe it or not, that's the best news I've heard about this patch in a long time. It lives, and there is hope.

Less of this, thanks.

I understand the frustration of waiting for a patch/update for a game, but having spent enough time on the "other side" I realize there is a whole lot of moving parts going on to ensure updates and patches are stable and don't cause unforseen issues.

As others have said here, please give people time to ensure all the boxes are ticked.

I have found that in recent Beta "Set all Torpedo bombers in TF" to certain setting (e.g. Naval Search 20%) etc. does not necessarily work.

Here is something to check to see if it is still true:

michaelm75au
That island has an incorrect nationality code - it has been set to Japan Mainland.

Not sure what it should have. Bump the question upstairs.[;)]

BTW, Formosa wont activate the reinforcements

Pescadores probably should have the Formosa nationality code:
