Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Invalid Invasion

Following reloading the game and then ending the turn, the game started an invasion of Germany, which is not a legitimate target due to its size.

Further, the nation being played (France) is under blockade, so an invasion should not even be possible.

I have replicated the result by ending the game with Task Manager, reloading and replaying the end of turn.

I assume something is in disarray with loading the save file.

I have attached the save file FYR.

In my second Japan save the game launched an invasion of Russian Far East. I think the popup said something about the lack of opposition in the area. Fighting was still ongoing when the peace treaty was signed and the area remained in Russian hands.

I also had another odd invasion at the start of the war that the savegame covers. I don't have a screenshot, i.e. evidence, so I did not include it before.

The situation was that France had owned the Liaotung peninsular. There was a request for independence, which was granted. Two months later Japan made a surprise invasion and captured that territory, thereby triggering a war with France.

But the territory was not French at the time of the attack.

Maybe it is a related issue. Or maybe it is something else.

This issue was under v1.00.52. I don't recall this behaviour with earlier versions.

A save for this one would definitely be useful for investigation. If you see this happening again, please let us know.

Sorry, but I didn't make an archived save at the time and the save file I posted is from the same game at a later point of time.

FWIW, it happened to me, too, against the Soviet far East. So it's not just him.

Also, there are two bad missions that remain. You may have heard of them already.

One is the misdirected invasion of Sakhalin. Boats head off way south, can't be persuaded to go back north even if all land/sea opposition is wiped out.

The other is that infamous Western Med convoy attack where your forces (initially heading west) cannot make a turn to the north.
