Too many allied fighter jets!

Post by Tanaka »

As I conclude my first victorious campaign as Japan against the allied AI I have faced many allied fighter jets starting in 1943 and on. In fact almost every allied fighter became a jet. At the end of the game the US AI had like 2000 MPPs to spend. Feels very gamey and unhistorical as I don't think any jets were ever in the Pacific theater. And it was mostly only German fighter jets in Europe. The German ME 262 was the only jet fighter to see air-to-air combat in WW2. USA was still mostly using prop planes in the Korean war. This is scary to think what an allied human might do with all these jets and all those MPPs. Can these be toned down in some way?

I've never considered max level fighter units in this game to be exclusively jets regardless of the art on the counter. You don't even see the word jet mentioned in the manual. It's more likely given the abstract nature of the units they are meant to represent (in the late game anyway) a large number of highly advanced piston engine fighters with maybe a smattering of jet or experimental hybrid jet aircraft included. Even the Germans never got more than 300 of their ME-262s into the air. But jets look cool so the incentive is there to include them on the art and art mods.

Not only do they look like jets they sound like jets haha. It is very history immersion breaking to hear all of those jets rocketing around in the Pacific especially so early. I hear you though. I feel like another art icon for piston engine fighters first and still prop sound with another level of research would fix this. Like they did when they added the yellow cone on the next level Messerschmidt to slow down the development. Or a soft limit of one jet per nation.I don't think there should be any of these jets until at least 1945...
