EIA v1.26.04 Official Update Issues

Post by pzgndr »

FYI, I have reports from Maple Leaf and his pbem game that the admin button is not working for him and that AI Spain is not properly processing the diplomacy phase. As we just moved into a new home, copiously decorated in Contemporary Cardboard, it will be several days before I get back to code development. I intend to get a hotfix out as soon as I can to resolve these two issues. If anyone has any other issues to report, let me know and I'll roll them into the hotfix.

After that, I'll move on to start a v1.27 version. One item on my ToDo List is to get the AI to reinforce battles from adjacent areas. I'll also see what other enhancements I can work on. But my biggest interest is hearing some player feedback on the AI grand strategies and what might need some improvements to resolve weaknesses or add some additional complexity. We'll see.

Sounds good Bill.

I’ll try to provide some feedback over the next few months.

I think we're close to resolving the pbem issues regarding processing diplomacy turns. We're going to go one more turn to verify all is well and then I'll post a hotfix in another couple of weeks.

Has anyone got any other issues to report with v1.26.04? Other than a couple of installation problems, there have been no other reported issues. On one hand, I take that as a good sign that I may have finally(?) addressed all of the legacy bugs lingering in the game. On the other hand, I worry that too many players have walked away from this game over the years and just aren't playing it any more.

The challenge for 2025 is to encourage players - old and new - to play this excellent wargame of Napoleonic grand strategy and to release a final official update that fixes any lingering game bugs and makes improvements on the AI computer opponent where weaknesses are reported. Feedback from other players is helpful. I can only see so much during my playtests. Let me know what you see and suggest what can be better.

Bill sounds good. I plan and intend to learn this game and get sometime in this year and hopefully provide you with some kind of feedback.

I want to share an update, since I've been quiet lately. I am still working with Maple Leaf to see if pbem changes are working correctly. I was planning to release a hotfix last month with just those changes, but I've been busy with other improvements so the plan now is to release v1.27.00 Beta after one more pbem round.

Here's what's on the plate so far:
Empires in Arms the Napoleonic Wars - 1.27.00
=============================================
- PBEM Admin button not always working correctly – resolved.
- PBEM simultaneous diplomacy not always working correctly for some human client players – resolved.
- Warning message added for last PBEM player to verify all simultaneous diplomacy files are loaded prior to ending turn – resolved.
- AI improvement for Reinforcing A Field Combat – resolved.
- User Manual section 11.2.11 updated for allied forces reinforcing a field combat – resolved.
- Units not in a city sometimes being foraged as besieged – resolved.
- AI-AI besiegers not always working – resolved.
- AI-AI city trivial combat not working – resolved.
- AI determination of enemy in range of target area not always working correctly – resolved.
- Swedish minor corps not drawing allied supply in 1813 – resolved.
- AI improvement for defending capitals of allies – resolved.
- AI improvement for place/remove depots – resolved.
I have completed playtests of the first few turns for each of the three campaigns and I am satisfied with the AI results. AI improvements for battle reinforcement, sieges and city combats, and reduced forage losses due to better depot placements go a long way in resolving these AI weaknesses and help make the computer opponent more challenging. I will continue to playtest some more for the next week or so until we're ready to release this beta. Stay tuned.
