Artificial Intelligence

Post by Chris0War »

When, do you think? , Will Matrix present us with the first title that will use the NPU that currently sits useless in your desktop waiting for any input during those long and arduous war game sessions

- Copilot AI answer -

NPU stands for Neural Processing Unit. An NPU is a specialized piece of hardware designed to accelerate machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks, like image recognition, natural language processing, or even powering AI assistants like me. Think of it as a brain tailored to handle AI-related computations efficiently and quickly, while using less power compared to a general-purpose CPU or GPU.

NPUs are often found in devices like smartphones, tablets, and even some computers to enhance AI-driven features, such as improving photos, translating languages in real time, or understanding voice commands.

I imagine maybe 'faster' and more coherent human behaviour, unless otherwise specified, in a not too near future.

You would say that if there's one segment already far ahead it would be in the military? Ergo.. much needed in those fansoft adventures possibly bleeding out into the digital casual wargamer apparatus

Currently, the use of NPUs in video games is limited, as most games and game engines are not yet optimized to fully exploit this type of technology.

Wouldn't it be something, Matrix releasing the 'first' 'true' 'AI' 'gaming' title

Oh sure, we'll just plug Empires in Arms and World in Flames and the rest into some AI gizmo and then sit back and watch. Uh-huh.

I think a better bet is to wait for someone to create an actual android, with human Intelligence. He can then just read the rules and play any game against you.

Any game, like any miniature game?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I was envisioning just a human intelligence residing on your PC. So...you would have to make any moves for it - on its instructions.

Now, further down the road (probably a long way) we'll have true robots that can manipulate board peices, etc. and wouldn't need any assistance. But, by that point the main focus of such a device would probably be more concentrated on X-rated issues.
