So just to confirm, we will need to manually convert all the jpgs in the Community DB picture pack to the new format to keep seeing those pictures once this version goes live?
No, you won't need to. Command looks for the matching webp file locally first, doesn't find it, and fetches it (if it exists) on the remote server, just like with jpegs until now.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with pre-emptively converting your existing jpeg collection to webp, to avoid re-fetching it from the server.
Thanks for the tip. With XnConvert, I got both community image packs converted in about 20 minutes.

FYI, for those of us using our own DB images that are not in the load-on-demand server, you WILL need to convert those yourself.

What does the 'Flight Profile - Terrain Following' property refer to in the Harpoon Block 1C database?

Harpoon.png
Both the Flight Profile - Terrain Following capability code and weapon seeker generation are checked. Any seeker with a generation older then "Early 2000s" will also be subject to the terrain following limitations. Checking the seeker is a work around until the database is updated for weapons like the Blk 1 Harpoons.
ASCMs with seekers from a generation prior to the "early 2000s" no longer have terrain-following capabilities.
This appears to pose a problem with missiles that have both anti-ship and land-strike capabilities, such as the SS-3 Styx.

Xnconvet worked good for me, thanks Dimitris. One thing I noticed after updating to v1.08 there is no longer a " Community " folder in the Scenario folder, not sure why. I made a backup of the previous version of Command Modern Operationvv1.07.1567.6 and checked that and in the scenarios folder and Community folder is in that version. Did the 1.08 update eliminate that folder. Can I copy the community folder from version 1.07.1567.6 and copy it to version v11.08 ?

The official CMO release does not normally include the community scenarios, but they were included by mistake at some point. So this oversight has now been rectified.

Yes.

Since some people have asked for more guidance to convert their images. My personal preference is XNViewMP. I've found it to be extremely fast to run batch conversions

Conversion of DB Images to WEBP using XNViewMP:
Note: This will remove all "Tags" from the existing images. This will have no adverse usage for your gameplay; but may be undesired for maintainers of the image packs

1. Download and install XNViewMP from: https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/#downloads
2. Open XNViewMP and navigate to your Command/DB/Images folder
3. Select Both CWDB and DB3000 folders using ctrl+Left click.
4. Right click and select "Batch Convert"
5.Navigate to Output tab. All changes in next step take place on this tab.
6. Output folder = Folder of your choice (source folder). Format: Change to WEBP. Check Options "If an output file already exists: Replace". Tick "Preserve Metadata" and "Keep original date/time attributes". OPTIONAL: Tick "Delete original" will mean you don't have to do step 7 - but gives you no way back if you use incorrect settings.
7. Click Convert and wait 1-2 minutes (depending on PC spec)
8. Delete JPEG images in CMO DB/Images folder once you are satisfied with the conversion. If you don't delete the JPEG you will have both a webp and jpeg version

I guess this is not necessary for steam users. Whatever needs to be done will be done in the official update. Correct me, if I am wrong.

It's not necessary but if you've downloaded the image packs and want to keep viewing images in the latest beta without redownloading the images from Matrix servers then you will need to do it

Just because something is land attack capable doesn't mean it's capable flying for a protracted period of time over land. Given the short range of the Styx, the "land attack" capability is/was mainly for hitting large coastal targets (e.g. Iranian & Iraqi tank farms on their coasts).

Can I just delete the jpg's and let CMO fetch the required images as I play?

I am correct to understand that this approach works equally for the steam version?

Yes. CMO always downloads images from their servers as required unless you decide to predownload the image pack

We have a new exe update for the CMO v1.08 public beta, Build 1662.
(This [or its successor] will also be distributed officially, but this is the fastest way to get it if you want/need it immediately)

Download: http://warfaresims.slitherine.com/Command_B1662.7z
To apply: Unzip on the public beta installation, overwriting the existing Command.exe (backup the original as always, just in case).

Command Build 1662 Release Notes (changes from Build 1645)
====================================================================

* NEW SIM FEATURE: "Depressed trajectory" capability for certain ballistic missiles (Requires v512+ DBs). Missiles who have this capability will use the "low" trajectory option in any less-than-maximum range shot (the default behavior for most BMs is to use the "high" trajectory leg).
(Currently only the Russian Iskander-M/E and its North Korean analog KN-23 are flagged as such in the database. If you have sources for other systems having the same capability, feel free to share them on the DB tracker: https://github.com/PygmalionOfCyprus/cmo-db-requests/)

* ADDED: Includes the new v512 databases.
- DB3000 v512 additions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PvOV1N ... sp=sharing
- CWDB v512 additions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mB2Ko3 ... sp=sharing

* Auto-Evade should be in RoE
* WP missile ASuW should be in RoE
* Remove strategic category and move "use nukes" to RoE
* Dropdown width size is now dynamic

I'm not sure what is going on with the images but I deleted the jpg's from the DB folders and now some images are missing.

Ex I'm playing Breaking Balbek and before there was an image of A-50 Mainstay-A now there is no image and the CMO is not fetching it.

Thx

Hello Dimitris, I've uploaded v1.08 and all the scenarios that are already in the folders work fine. When I made my own scene, I stood back and loaded it, the loading bar goes all the way to the right but then, nothing. My scenario does not upload. I've done this twice so far with same results.

I hope you can assist me in this.

Thank-you, David Shurick
