SUs have a max MP cost for being rolled (___someone may add the value___), no idea how exactly that one is calculated.

RESERVE I do not know any special rule on rolls in Winter 41. How much MP the units need you may calculate with...
tyronec wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 4:17 pm The formulae could be written as follows:
Forumlas:
NON-MOT (assumtion is that this includes Cavalry [not tested]):
(Sum MP)*2+2=MPreserve
MOTORIZED:
(Sum MP)*2+6=MPreserve
Officially only Initiative and MPs matter, the more MP, the more likely (IIRC). But its possible that more is affecting the chance.

But besides this, you are simply screwed in heavy snow hexes. You just need to cope with that in one way or another.

Why would the AI do this :

282 IAP Yak 1 renamed to 788 IAP PVO I 16 Type 29

Went from a 'modern' aircraft with 400 in the pool to an obsolete with 60 in the pool.

I assume it is scripted? Good thing is that the change of aircraft hasnt added to Travel so at least I can change the b!!! back.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

It's not AI, it's a normal scheduled/historical rename as you guessed, on T36 it is bound to this AG and it contains this new (worse) plane.
Not sure what'd happen if one would leave the "new plane" slot empty in the Editor...

Question: At late Jan '42 in a game as Soviets, and I have 2 Motorized Rifle Divs, and 2 NKVD Motorized Rifle Divs. Both have OOBs with no upgrades, so I suspect these units somehow transform or go away, like the Mech Divisions do.

Do they become Rifle Divisions? If so, when?

If not, what happens to them?

I invite you to figure out if there were TOE changes to Motorized Divisions later on, which are missing!

They stay.
The 1st Mot was made non-mot in early 1943, not sure about the others.

The Soviets have afaik:
1. Tank Divisions becomming Tank Brigades (on Depletion) bewteen turns 12 and 32 and definitive transformation on Turn 32. (smth like this).
2. Mechanzed become Rifle Divisions, from T12 onwards on Depletion state.
3. Rifle Corps/Mech Corps (the HQs) disband from ~T5 or so onwards.
4. NKVD dudes disband from ~T5 onwards.
...all the Mot. TOEs may be excluded fom all this, not sure.

-numbers 1+2 interact I think also with the "Surrendered Units respawn when destoyed early in game".
-numbers 3+4 is basically "done" withing ~5 turns after start, so from T10 or so you will not have any NKVD or Rifle Corps left which do not have another timeline pre-programmed (renames and so on).

...that's all "automated/regular/large scale" changes I know of, ofc you also have Cav Corps and so on but they are regular Disbands you can see in game.
But after early 1942 I don't think in GC41 there's much more of such coded changes/disbands or larger scale unit data to change around. Soviet Unit's history is more in your hands than on German side since you can also build stuff. If you want Soviets Unit's hitory more in depth you need to play TEO's Mods.

Do the german security divisions have any advantages over ordinary infantry divisions if you put them in the Soviet garrison or Balkan garrison boxes? In Wite 1 they had some kind of double advantage over infantry divisions if you put them in the city or urban hexe. Is it now only combat value of a unit is taking in account for garrison purposes?

The second question is about First winter.
Do the mountain divisions have any benefits in mitigating the First winter rules in Wite 2 as they had in Wite 1?
Actually all Finn units must have those benefits but who else?

That's surprising! Both unit types request "Light Tanks", and the Motorized Rifle DIvs OOB includes Light and Amphib Tanks. That means they will be using T26 and T38/40 well into 1945!

More than likely I'll disband them for the Trucks at some point....not yet, but they are truck hogs, and the 1500-ish vehicles probably better put to use in something else eventually

All Axis Mountain units are immune to first-winter effects. Additionally, like Mountain Units on both sides, they move through Snow without penalty

This means the Axis Mountain units are incredibly valuable, including the Romanian and Hungarian ones, and should be brought up to full strength before Blizzard hits, even if that means withdrawl in September to reserves temporarily

IIRC, under locked TBs Germans will have 2 Mountain Divs, 3 Romanian and 1 Hungarian Brigade.

The same rule applies and to the Ski batallions for the both sides 8-)
And can anybody clarify my first question about Axis security divisions and their impact on maintaining Garrison boxes or TBs?

I only know about the double CV (I think just in Soviet Garrison TB, no 100% sure).
Urban comat bonuses to CV are given on a 'per element' basis afaik, so the type of Division should not matter. First time I hear this being related to Security (but haven't played WitE1 so it may be different in prior titles).
