Ver 2.1 Issues

Post by Capitaine »

All that time taken to fix things, and in the first 10 minutes of play I still see the following problems that were reported early on after the initial release:

A. Offensive battle selection of "Frontal Assault" still results in the player being advised that he has chosen "Withdrawal". [:(]

B. After a battle, the music restarts and overlaps with what had already been playing. [:(]

C. When you assign/attach Napoleon to a specific corps (in my case, Soult), he does not move with it, but stays in his initial location. [:(]

These three issues were repeatedly reported on this forum, and nothing has been done. What up wi' dat? [&:]

hmm interesting - I briefly tried the patch before I went to work and A. above was in fact working for me. I'll have a closer look over the weekend.

Okay, I found that the problem was that the patch never installed on my game. I was having trouble w/ the serial number, and thought I'd got it right but apparently the installer just gave up and didn't install. (For some reason, I didn't have dashes recorded between number groups.)

Upon rerunning True Update, I saw that I still wasn't updated, d/l'd again, finally put dashes between number groups, and voila, the game was patched.

As a result, A., B. and C. above now appear to be working fine! Sorry for the mistaken observation. [&o]

Does the splash screen show the version number after the patch is correctly installed?

I think it's neat. Reminds me of Charles Ives[;)]

Not that I can see. If so, I'd like to know also.

I find the music and most noises annoying, so I have removed the offending .wav files from the game.

Ive been playing danube since the patch came out, the battle chooser seems ok but I keep getting message flash up that says range check error, the last one was while a battle was proccesing, I had to press Crtl-Alt-del to get back to windows, then i loaded the game back up and loaded the autosave, the exact same thing happened at the exact same point, shame i was really enjoying the game[:(]

Me too - having range check error. have not heard any response yet. I thought it might be unique to me, since no one else reported the issue (i also installed the patch). What senario are you playing? I got the problem when playing the first 1805 senario, using full fog of war, playing France, and using the extended campaign option.

I looked and looked for any range errors but didn't find anything. Since that error repeated for you is there a chance I could get you to send me your save game to see if it will repeat for me?

Thanks

I've had the range error once, but I don't have a save game.

Frank, you mentioned in another post that you had looked at everything mentioned in the forums plus two things not mentioned. Would it be possible to get some comments from you about the list of bugs mentioned in the "various problems" thread? Many of the ones I listed were not fixed in the patch (e.g, double mapping of left and right arrow keys).

Thanks, I found it. The range error occurs only in games running full-fog. Until I've fixed it, the work-around is to enter directly the number of supplies you want to send from a town back to the main depot. The error is in the up/down arrow event. So typing in the value you want will get around it for now. Again, its only in full-fog.

Double-mapping of arrow keys? I didn't change anything there. Is the screen moving too much when you scroll you mean?

thanks - I also found by chance that entering the supply value directly fixed my range check problem, but was not sure that could a viable solution. glad to hear it is - no need to reversion since its an easy fix. I'm surprised more didnt run into the problem - I would have thought everyone would play with full fog of war.

Thanks much

I have just restarted aPBEM game after patching. On the second move I watch the replay, it displays weather clear, shows a report and then jumps to send files to opponent. I dont get to make my move.

I tried to reload and run again with the same result.

Im sending the file to frank and trying to continue anyhow:(

As I mentioned in my list of bugs in the Various Problems thread, if I move the speed slider with my mouse it becomes "selected" from then onwards. The left and right arrow keys will then move the mini-map left and right AND the slider up and down. I haven't found a way yet to un-select the slider.

One other thing would be overlapping adjacent icons. When I play again I'll try and get a screenshot. Adjacent icons, if I remember correctly, slightly overlap such that those lower on the map appear slightly stacked on top of those higher on the map. In one game this caused me some problems as the overlap covered the strength/defence values of one of my corps. Selecting the corps icon did not bring its stats into view.

Hi Mike, I ran your PBEM game and didn't find a problem. I started it up, selected the file(s) you sent me, clicked the playback button, it went through the turn and then gave me a single report. After that it said there was a battle and I got the popup to send the game files to the other player. When there's a battle that has to be resolved you don't get your orders phase until the battle is resolved which requires strategies to be selected first.
