Coral Sea scenario: questions

Post by kev_uk »

Just played this scen. as the Japanese, just to get a feel for the game after playing the tutorial. Well, I like the game, it has a definate polished feel to it compared to UV and its going to take me while to get through the manual (I ran out of paper so need to finish printing that later on today).
Some things I couldnt understand (probably a case of RTFM); The AI kept forming computer controlled transports, to places such as Lae and Buna (after it had been captured), right under the nose of Allied LBA. I could not for the life of me find out how to turn off computer controlled convoys. Looked in the game options, but could not see anything.
The other thing, the Allied AI did never once try and engage my carriers; it did the most stupid thing of sending 2CAs and a CL into the Coral Sea, where my ACTF was just sitting. They promptly got hit hard. At the end of the game, I found the Lexingtion TF sitting about 2 hexes outside Noumea with no destination. Most annoying, and I was itching to see the new carrier to carrier combat.
Ah well, must get to read the manual.
Cheers

Did you have auto convoys setup? If so thats why the comuter was setting up these convoys, to supply bases set up for resupply

Right, there appears to be no option at Truk to turn on/off auto convoy, same with Noumea. Also pressing 'H' does not bring up auto convoy screen.

I noticed the same issue in this scenario. No way to turn off or view auto convoy screen? Any help would be appreciated but is the auto convoy system player controllable only in campaign games (full map?).
Thanks.

Just read the manual. It says auto convoys are only enabled with production, so I guess thats why it is not showing up as an option, but the AI is creating convoys anyway..with no way to turn them off.

Nothing like having bugs come back from the dead. That *was* already fixed [8|]

Once the sound issues are sorted out and everyone is up and running, we'll be back on the patch but right now getting everyone running is Matrix's focus.

I played this scenario last night as well, and the USN carrier strike force was floating just north of Noumea with no destination as well?

I guess that the AI was afraid of my carrier force.

Ok, I thought it might be something like that. I hadn't read the production part of manual yet, I am still working on movement and combat. Mr Frag confirms it's a bug so we should see it disappear in a patch.

Yeah but it gets annoying, and I think it took over a convoy I had made myself which promplty sailed right in range of LBA....

I am trying the main campaign now, trying to get the hang of Japanese production which is, to say the least, confusing [X(]

Yeah, I am seeing this auto convoy issue with this scenario as allies, too. The Japanese AI is playing very well, though, much better than UV.

Anyone know if this bug is specific to just Coral Sea or does it apply to all the non-campaign scenarios?... I guess this why I favored an expanded beta test.... but we're all thrilled to have the game and these things are easily fixed in a patch.

Thanks again 2X3 and Matrix for a great game.
