WITP IN EUROPE?

Post by Phoenix23 »

What do people think of the prospect of a WITP style game for the West Front? Feasible not Feasible... Good points bad points...
I think 2by3 should get cracking on it! It could possibly be the most amazing West Front gaming experiences of all time if done. Another interesting thing it could do is connect the two games (WITP/WestFront) as a single game on a huge map granted turns would be monolithic and i think i'd go nuts controlling it all but what does everyone think?

Personally, I think WW2 Europe has been done to death and there are far more playable games on the market covering it.

WiTP is really unique because it covers an area of the war which has not been cover in total elsewhere.

ive already ask this question!

and got a lot of feedback on why it shouldn't be done,

i think a MED (africa/italy etc) style game would be good!! (WitP engine!)

Perhaps if World at War does well, Matrix will consider a heavyweight WITP version of the Western front.

I'd advise against it. I remain unconvinced about UV MED. The land combat engine just doesn't cut it. The battle of the Atlantic done UV style would be boring. At a strategic level, sub ops are just not exiting. The occasional chase of a German surface raider (Scharnhost, Bismark etc) would not satisfy those used to nightly destroyer actions off the Canal.

UV MED has more material, but I'm not convinced it would offer the same sort of exitement as anything done in the pacific. Again, the land combat engine would not do the fighting in North Africa any justice. They could improve it of course, but to do it justice, it would take over the game, and not give you the balance you have currently between sea, air and land.

I'd love to see their treatment of the Eastern front, and would pay whatever they wanted for it. I just think WITP has gone about as far as it can in terms of theatres. UV MED might work as an add on if it could be done, but I'm not sure the material is there for anything as meaty as UV.

Still, Just my very humble opinion. Besides, I have a decade of gameplay with WITP ahead of me, so I'm not sure I would even have time for UV MED. [;)]

ACW looks exactly like what I've been looking for, for a long time now. When's it due to be released? It looks like it has a lot more than BIN is going to have, since it shows parts of Africa and other countries maps.
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik! ;) and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

First off enjoy some screenies here.

For those that have not played this design, think grognards sort of game. If you are squeemish about moving counters be warned, you get to move counters :)

A comment on a post in a thread at Wargamer hints at September.
AGW might be a valid christmas gift option this year.

See the thread I mentioned here.

If you want more info, there was a review at Wargamer for RGW, and they have a Schwerpunct forum at Wargamer as well.
