Strange loading habits?

Post by Oleg Mastruko »

3 x 1000 = 3000, not 9000? Also how come 3k APs are 100% loaded with only 1000 load apiece?

I have savefile if needed.

In the "manual"[X(]...it states that AP's will only load 10% of their capacity with supplies. I don't recall if it is to simulate weight, but it's in there.

I've also seen some problems like this where the overall task force load does not match the individual loads of the component ships. Don't know if this is a bug or something else.

Yes, the % is off, somewhere Mr. Frag posted about allowing "x" % more to help in the math, this may be on the list for patching.

In this case, those are APs, not AKs.

APs carry supplies less efficiently than AKs.

APs consume 3 capacity per supply point, so a 3k AP loaded with 1,000 supply = 100% capacity.

I do know that there is another bug that Frag has mentioned wherein the calculated load coast is wonky and aims too low, but this is not that bug. This is the game working as designed.

No worries. I'm unwinding after a very long day at work, and I just re-read what I wrote and it actually came across far more curtly then I wanted.

Suffice to say, load supplies on AKs, you'll get far more bang for your buck. [:)]

I must have missed that tidbit in the manual!

But if you say this works as intended, then this whole thread should be disregarded.

Still, there are some very strange loading rules, and there's so many of them no wonder I managed to miss some. Oftenly I see my fast transport groups with, for example, "2850 of 2700" loaded.

You can load oil on AKs as well at 50% cap.

There's a chart on page 97 of the manual that shows the various costs per point for each ship type. Quite handy.

This is true. I believe I've read one of Mike Wood's posts where the overloaded number represents the crew figuring they can cram just a little bit more in. [:D]

There is a bug with the displayed calculation on how much capacity you need to load a certain unit. It aims too low, best to aim higher then the displayed number.

The only relevant reference to 10% I can find the manual is:
"No ship may load more than 10% of the supplies located on a base"

Otherwise its all explained on page 97-98 as mentioned by 'five oh'
