There is a Info screen about named PANZERKAMPFWAGEN III MEDIUM TANK in MC esert Fox. It states that PzKpfIIIe should have a 50mm gun. However in encyclopedia the e model has 37mm gun. Which is really correct?

From the Encyclopedia of German tanks of WWII by Chamberlain, Doyle and Jentz

"The service life of the Ausf E was extended by rearming them with the 5cm KwK L/42 and from 1943 onward, converting several of them to Pz Beob Wg (armored observation vehicles)"

According to the source a total of 96 Ausf E's were completed, orig armed with the 37mm KwK L/46.5 so the Encyc. is technically "correct" but by the time of the Mega-campaign any surviving Ausf E's sent to Afrika would probably have been upgraded to the 50mm.

Thanks Nikademus.

You start the megacampaign with bunch of e models with 37mm guns. They are kinda the backbone of your forces. And Now you are saying that there were no e models with 37mm guns in Africa. Not nice. I guess I have to do some modifying.

TO my knowledge most if not all the PzIIIE's in Africa in 41 (the timeframe of the MC) were still 37mm armed.

Could be wrong...Wild Bill?

The MCNA only covers the very early part of the North Afrika Campaign when the Germans were historcally winning .. it doesn't cover the whole North Africa time frame , I strongly doubt that the Germans used any upgraded PZIIIE's that early.
It would be fun though if a MC was made where the Germans had to play against an evenly matched opponent now that both sides can be played. Maybe someday a upgraded MC to cover the whole of the "North Africa Experience" can be made to more fully utilize the new PlayeronPlayer capabilities.
As A matter of fact, I think the MCLV is set in the same unbalanced time frame .. don't know, yet haven't got mine yet .. but that too might be fun to extend into time periods where the Russians have a little more balanced chance at a win.
Luckly the Watchtower campaign is set at a period where the outcomes could have gone either way.

whoa Nelly there, I believe my exact quote was that surviving Ausf E's sent to Africa were "probably" upgraded to the 50. I should probably have further clarified by saying that the upgrade also "probably" happened in the field after delivery so there were likely periods when the same Ausf E's were armed with 37mm for part of the campaign and later the 50mm. Either that or some were converted and some got missed

Confused? sorry. Dont have solid data on whether or not the E's in Africa were all converted, just have the info from Jentz and company that surviving chasis eventually 'were' upgraded to the bigger gun thus dispelling the confusion over differing stats on the mega-campaign and the encyc.
