There are restricted commands in the game, when a unit is assigned to a restricted command it cant be moved by ship or air. Air units assigned to restricted commands cant change bases to bases not assignred to their command.

Japanese restricted commands

Home Defense

Kwangtung

China Expeditionary

Allied restricted commands

Australia
Canada
USAFFE
West Coast
New Zealand
ABDA

Along this line, there should be a fix in which you can make a tnpt fleet, assign route from, say, homeland Japan to a homeland Japan base, and be able toload troops. But the options when underway are either go to the designated port, go to another homeland port, or return to origin. Would be a lot easier shifting stuff around within restricted zones.

Been discussed. It was rejected because (IIRC) of the amount of programming that would be required to prevent exploits. There is also one camp against it because they feel that this would be contrary to the spirit of the Restricted Command rule.
This game does not have a learning curve. It has a learning cliff.

Any bugs I report are always straight stock games.

Forgive me if this is covered in the manual, but how does one know which units are part of Restricted Commands (I remember having the same problem moving the V Amphibious HQ from Eniwetok to Saipan in the tutorial, or perhaps that was simply poor Transport TF management)?

Restricted commands are listed in the manual -
ABDA, AUS CMD, New Zealand COmmand etc
The AMPH HQ unit needs to load on a particualr kind of ship called a AGC,

Thx, Kevin.

Shame there's not some sort of notification in the unit information window that the unit is part of a restricted command, and/or that the "Transfer to Base" or "Select Unit for Loading" commands are greyed out. Just started Coral Sea, so I'll have to remember that due to the Aussie units.

So amphib. HQs can ONLY go on AGCs? Shame, 'cos mine (only had 1) got sunk when the 4th USMC hit Saipan!

If you know the Command Area, you could use the Strategic Map to show where all the units attached to that Command Area are located.
And it would be handy if Restricted Commands had an * against their name on the Strategic Map, so you locate visually where the units are.

Complete list form further up the thread. HOwever in the smaller scenarios (scen 6, Guadacanal, Coral Sea) this may not be the case. IN COral Sea AGCs wil not be an issue.

China Expeditionary

Allied restricted commands
Australia
