A close encounter of the worst kind. [:D]

I'm getting so that I keep ship officers in charge of TF's. I don't want to waste PP's on disappearing Admirals.

LeatherneckIllini and V2

Good news bad news...

Bad news is that I can not get the problem to repeat from the saves.

Good news is that you can probably go back to the Jan 12 turn and run it over again and Nimitz will not dissapear... I dont know how far you all have gone since this but it is a least an option if you both agree.

Thanks for trying to help it is appreciated

Does the leader problem (1.3 or 1.21) occur in any games where no PT boat are created?

Well, I have a game where suddenly there is a Japanese commanding one of my ships. I have not created any PT boats yet (still in Dec 1941) - running ver 1.30

I didn't have this problem in version 1.21 games - but in my current game, I reassigned one Allied commander - don't think I did that in my other game(s). Now I currently have 1 Japanese commander. Cause and effect? dunno - but I am guessing maybe.

PS - Do I get a beer?

I had the problem of getting Japanese commanders of Allied TFs, as well as WO 0/0 commanders in v1.21 and am having it in v1.30 also.

I refer people to Pry's post of 11/26. There appear to be multiple causes for this problem.

Folks,

I have been sending save game turns both before and after these changes occur. If you guys can do the same we can get this things squashed. Don't just talk about it here, lets get those save games in to Pry! BTW, I have another one for you this evening Pry! I am going through every ship, LCU, TF and air unit every turn and checking leaders. In three turns I have had multiple leader changes.

NOTE TO PRY: In one of the leader changes where there was a Japanese officer commanding a DD after the TF split, when I recombined the separate units again into a TF, the DD commander went back to a USN CDR........

Thanks again Pry. It was 20 JAN 42 when we caught it, and I offered going back to 12 JAN 42 as a "do-over", but he wants to stick it out and chalk it up to special Jap commandos poisoning the food at Makalapa.

Hope we get this fixed though, because I lost Fuchida (don't know how or when) and if I lose Tanaka or Yamaguchi I WILL take a do-over!

Also, I'm backing off my stance that creating PT boats has something to do with the problem - my opponent didn't create any PT boats. I'll modify it thus: the very existence of PT boats screws up the leader board!

Still love the game though.

I just had a thought... if a leader gets replaced on average about once every 2 turns, and the grand campaign has 1,576 turns, that is roughly 788 leaders that will be replaced. And in the selection menu, there aren't even 100. That doesn't look good for the long haul.

Sorry, I needed a place to vent. I just replace a leader who was axed by the bug, and then it hits me again the next turn...

I don't intend to teach religion to the priest, but perhaps a 1.31 patch could be produced exactly as 1.30, with only one added check: when the user ends his orders, all the task forces are checked to see if the leader has the same nationality as the TF, and the ones that don't are dumped into the operations report.

Another idea: produce a "1.30 DEBUG" patch, with the compiler debug options on - that should catch incorrect memory allocation, etc...

How about sending Pry some save game turns for him to look at? Am I the only one sending these?

Tankerace sent one a week or so back and since then you are it Pete

Anyone sending me a save, before doing so make sure you can exit the game reload the save and it happens again if it does not then I can not use the save.

I haven't sent any saves because my game wasn't started under 1.3. But I also encourage people who have games started under version 1.3 to send them to Pry as soon as they see this bug.

Or do what I did, I started a new game in 1.3, and had the bug on turn 2!

I can do one better. The leaders are all Facked Up when you simply start a scenario!!! While waiting for Dave to send his first turn, I loaded the scenario and noticed all the leaders are screwed. When he sent our game, same thing, all Facked Up. We don't have to do squat. Obviously this no longer needs saves because it is rampantly occuring throughout the database simply when loading scenario. Want "the save" anyway?

Sure, I've got a save and it is the first turn. I can just send the originasl and pry can make up his own password.[:D]

Real easy to find when you expect it. Did not even make a TF or squat. Just poked around Manila, PH and Singapore to look at all the nice ships before Dave blows 'em away!
