Probably a stupid question but...

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

Probably a stupid question but...

Post by sprior »

.. I've done th whole RTFM thing and can't find the answer to this:

When I land my troops in Monty's landing how do I get them to attack the adjacent strongpoints? I fI move the cursor over them I get the "attack not allowed" thing and the disembark button on the unit info is greyed out too...

You have to clear the enemy strongpoints off the beach hexes by bombarding them with your ships. If you select a ship and move the cursor over a strongpoint in range, you'll find that you can bombard the strongpoint. The landing button will only be active on beach hexes on which you've removed any strongpoint, so its a vital task.

It's your job to work out which strongpoints to bombard so as to clear landing space, and then to choose which units you land where. There's a detailed article on the SSG website www.ssg.com.au about strategies for all the beaches, check it out and it will help.

Thankyou Gregor. Having played AH's The Longest Day this should be a doddle, right? Right?

Compared to The Longest Day, Battles in Normandy will be over by lunchtime at the very latest.
