Music Modding

Post by Hanal »

Some of you have expressed a displeasure in the music so I wanted to point out that you can mod the music if you desire...here's how:

THE OLBLIGATORY YOU CHANGE THESE FILES AT YOUR OWN RISK DISCLAIMER!......[:)]

1. Open the Sound File which is located in the DAT file in the main directory.

2. Located at the bottom of the sound file list you will find 7 music files titled:
WaW_AllCountriesLoop.wav
WaW_Allies.wav
WaW_China.wav
WaW_Germany.wav
WaW_Japan.wav
WaW_MainTheme.wav
WaW_Soviet.wav

3. Save these music files by dragging and dropping them on your desktop and then place
them in a new folder for safekeeping.....

4. If you have .mp3 files of music on your pc, select the track you want to use for a specific country and rename it exactly as the original is written...For example, suppose you have an mp3 track titled "Wagner_Valkyries.mp3" and you want to use this for the German theme (which I did)...simply copy and paste the file onto your desktop, and rename it to WaW_Germany.wav. You will get a prompt asking if you want to change the extention which you reply yes. Then all you need to do is drag it back into the sound file.

5. Note: Make certain you have the show file extention option for your desktop icons on.

By doing this, you can have longer cues of music playing during your turn and of course suited to your tastes ......

Probably a good substitute for those sound files would be those found in the UV and WiTP sound folders...
Drinking a cool brew; thinking about playing my next wargame....
