Resource Question

Post by Uncle_Joe »

So is there an easy way to see WHICH resources are not connected?

The F7 'Production Screen' shows how many arent connected, but I dont see anything to indicate which are isolated? Is there something to display it on that mini-map? Is there any way to tell in the main screen?

On a related note, any way to tell who is giving you what from Free Trade and 'Gifts'? It would especially be helpful to see the 'Free Trade' so I can see who I am getting what from and whether or not its worthwhile to keep transports nearby.

If there isnt any way, any chance for things like this to be added? This stuff seems like basic info so you should have (especially connected/unconnected resources) so I'm guessing/hoping its in there already and I just dont see it.

Anyone?

Thanx!

I don't think there is any indication of which resource is unconnected. Not sure about gifts. I agree, it would be useful to have both pieces of info.

I spend a lot of time tracking down these disjointed territories.

Can't find it myself.

Developers: please add a way to get this info if it is not already there (or tell us where ...)

Could you explain how these territories are "disjointed", and what effect this has on gameplay?

I've always wondered about this.

Thanks,

This has been bothering me also. We need some way to find what is not connected so we can take steps to fix the transport net.

Ok, glad it wasnt just me...I thought for sure the whole point of having that mini-map on that screen WAS to show you where the disconnects are...

I think it would be very useful to see where your enemies are drawing their connections too as it gives targets to take out (in non-FOW games anyways)

Alan_Bernardo:

Disconnected Resources dont show up in your Production screen to be mated up with Factories and create the units. They are essentially wasted for as long as they are unconnected. I think the most common ones to lose with Germany are Portugal (good luck on that one without taking Spain), the island in the West Med, and the few in North Africa if you dont keep a Transport alive in the Med. Also, if you own Norway, you wont get its resource point without a ship in the Baltic (which is good to get the 3 free resources from Sweden due to 'trade' anyways).

I only know one easy way to get a feel for which resources you own but are not able to use.

In one of the province summary screens, there are columns for resources and for stockpiled resources. Once you get to the point where you are using them as fast as the miners can dig up the ore, the stockpiled figure should not be higher than the base figure.

For those places like the portuguese colony in SW Africa, the stockpile will be higher since you never use them up.
