Sealion Invasion?

Post by lauter11 »

Okay, with all the air power stationed in England, how does one go about invading as Germany? Unless I'm doing something wrong, it's impossible to send bombers over England with any kind of fighter escort.

Research the range factor for fighters. I think range is actually "officially" called "speed". Your fighters start with 1, raise that to two.

I learned from Joel (the hard way) that it really pays to push your fighter's range to two regardless of BoB.

Okay, thanks! I read the manual concerning the speed factor, but it didn't seem like increasing that would solve the problem. I stand corrected!

A couple things.

1) Research german fighters range to 2
2) If the WA has that large of an air force in england, it is not in africa - attack there instead!
3) The WA can only cover England or Scotland heavily, not both. Scotland is usually lightly defended and is the same range for air power. Keep the Brit guessing. Hit whichever one is weaker. Remember to smash them first with air power then go for the beaches.

Hope that helps!

I'd like to hear how people pulled it off also. I've heard some comments as to how easy it was, yet I can't see it being such a cake walk.

Yet, at the beginning of the 1943 scenario, German fighters still show a range of 1.

As well as they should. Historically German fighters were range 1 the entire war.

The designers should have endowed the German fighters with a rating of 1.5 because the Messerschmitts, the 109 & 110, IIRC, did participate in the BOB, though ineffectually, due to their limited range. I believe a few minutes over London was their limit operating from Dunkirk.
I wonder if the game reflects the greater re-deployment potential of English pilots due to the fact they were bailing out over home turf. Fewer Destroyed and more Damaged perhaps? I suppose that would be asking a lot.....
