You'd have to have at least 4 transports there to get 1 tank into UK on an amphibious attack. The second number under the transports (where it says 25/3) is it's amphibious attack capacity. It costs 10 points to land a tank and 5 points to land anything else. So if you're only using the 3 transports from W. Ger. you only have 9 amphib points and can only land 1 infantry.

On turn two, by default there is only 1 militia and 1 Flak (Arty?) in Scotland - you can have two heavy and two medium bombers in Belgium. One Hvy with the paratroops. teh 4 air will generaly kill the ocupants - at worst leaving the militia. Scotland will grow a second one upon invasion, so then move the three German transports and the heavy fleet and a light fleet (if one unit survives the air attack).

Move an infantry form West germany or Belgium to Scot land (Blue arrows will indicate strategic movement) Click on the heavy bomber and right click on the paratroop to "load" it (you will see they share a little number 1 in teh bottom right hand corner. Fly it to Scotland.

The two infanatry units should beat the one (or two) units with the help of teh bombarding fleets. I have only lost this once...

Then MOve as much as you can into scotland using teh transports strategic movement capability. INclude about 20-25 supply and make sure you repair the Scottish factory so units damamged by English counterattack will go into teh production queue there and not by destroyed! You won;t be able to rebuild them until you conquer England, but eventually you can get them back.

Make sure you are prepared to take Suez and Gibralter on turn three if units are evacuated to defend the homeland they are often easy pickens. Gibralter is particularly important - If you can break the Italian fleet out of teh Med to help fight the RN for Britain your chances are much better.

Still trying to understand the game mecanics here. The british fleet is more or less useless to prevent a sealion because they can´t interdict the transports moving up to English coast?

Only way would be strat. move milita from india or elsewere to bolster the defense?

I haven't tried this "turn 2" offensive, but I have noticed that England is particularly vulnerable to Scottish invasion. I don't know if the patch fixes this (supposed to help with British defence)
It all happens at once, by the time the RN destroys the transports it's too late. The RN must garrison that ocean or else!

Does it help to garrison that ocean? The transports move up, sea combat is declared afterwards at the end of the turn after the landing even if the RN is sitting in the north sea. Am I missing something here? The RN is more or less worthlees to protect England.

I tried the sealion in turn 3 in a PBEM game. I captured scotland, but now I'm stuck there since he killed my transports! I doubt he'll get it back since I have like 8 infantry on it! however, even if I had the resources there, I can't really mount an offensive against england because of the 4-5 infantry he has, not to mention the 8 miltia I think would be created (or am I wrong on the number)!

almost seems pointless to have invaded.

Militia for WAllied nation would be 1/pop point.

He will eventually get it back just by hitting your troops with air strikes. With no supply, your defense will be down by 1 Evasion. That makes early war Infantry pretty vulnerable. Of course if he is feeling really mean, he'll leave them there just to drive up your research cost! [:D]

hummm, I thought transports were not able to enter enemy-held sea zones alone... and if they can carry troops before combat then that's a big-old-bug needing to be fixed!

The infantry trying to move throught the North Sea that is occupied by the RN will be Op fired at by the RN. You must kill or retreat the RN before you try to move troops through that zone.[:-]

Seems like the key is that this forces the Home Fleet into the North Sea zone.

I'm used to thinking in terms of Naval type games where the fleet could stay north of Scapa Flow and react when the transports and German fleet were sighted leaving port. This seems to work differently where the fleet has to move south pre-emptively to keep the Germans from jumping across that zone.

That said, you'd better get that fleet a lot of air cover, as the likely German response against the fleet coming south is going to be a lot of both air attacks and submarine raids on the Home Fleet.

Looks like in this game, the Battle of Britain might become the Battle of the North Sea. Can the Germans wear down that fleet to clear it out of that zone?

I believe this is slated to change in a future patch so that it is the transports themselves who are hit by op-fire rather than what they are carrying.

Yes, that has been my experience in my last few games....'The Battle of Britain' plays out in the sea zone near England rather than over the land. I have no real problem with that as it makes no real difference. The whole point for the Germans was to gain air superiority over the Brits to make the landings possible. The game reflects that just fine IMO.
