population

Why do i mostly get a e.g. 27/-27 population in the production window. When i begin skipping products like armor, when i'm not producing anything in the end, i get 27/0 on production or 27/2. This mostly happens around 1942-1943. What am i overlooking ?

Spinoza;

Every unit in the last box of the production queue requires two (2) population points to complete. These units will show up in the respective area if the population is available. If your population every shows a negative number to the right of the slash, that means you have more units in the last production box than available population.

For example; If you have 6 units in the last box you need 12 population to complete them all. If your population number shows 6/-2 (for example) then you are one unit over the maximum possible. What you have to do is "right click" on one of the units in the last box of the queue (this will turn its number red). By doing this, you put it on hold (i.e. do not allocate population or PPs to it). Once you do this, you will see a couple things happen, 1) the population number to the right of the slash will go up by 2, 2) your available production points will go up by one.

The overall concept is that a unit requires 1 factory and 1 resource each turn while being produced. In the LAST turn of its production, it requires 1 factory, 1 resource and 2 population (i.e the tanks are done, now the crew need to assemble)

Hope that helps!

Also, every damaged unit goes back to the production spiral. When a damaged unit is placed there, 1 pop point is placed back in the pool. Then when the damaged unit reaches the last box, it needs 2 pop points to be rebuilt.

The reason this is happening in 1942-43 is because the war gets going and there's a lot of damaged units in the pool at that time.
