"Hotel California" Bug

Post by SteveV »

Playing the May 1942 scenario, now in Jan 1943.

Japanese have moved a host of troops into Homan and have evicted the Chinese. Now none of the troops will leave. They get posted to move elsewhere but never leave. Cannot get them to go anywhere once they arrive in Homan.

Obviously a very frustrating situation. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Can send a save file to Frag or any other experts for assistance.

Thanks a bunch

Take a look at the ownership of the city/base!

You'r probably getting screwed by the ZoC rules. Press "w", and you can see all the ZoCs. I'd bet you're surrounded, even if there isn't anyone there.

Remembers hering a somebody say something about, "the threat of enemy commandos and paratroopers behind the lines..."

Hmm - but if there are no enemy units in the hex, the LCU should be able to move regardless. Of course if there ARE enemy units in the hex, you might have to chase them off first if surrounded by enemy ZOCs.

There are no enemy units around me except for those I just kicked out of Homan. I occupy all the other hexes already just to make sure that was not the issue.

I will email the file to Mogami up above.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Press the W key and see if there is an erroneous enemy ZOC in your hex. If there is (i know, there shouldn't be, but...) you won't be able to move directly into another enemy ZOC. Also, check to see if there is an enemy ZOC in the hex you are moving directly into (just for more data).

I *occupy*, unopposed the hexes I am moving to.

with the center hex Homan and I am trying to move back out, to the east along the road/rail back towards the coast.

Is it possible the game thinks the Chinese have control of these hexes I occupy unopposed? I moved into all the spaces in a desperate effort to try and get these guys out of Homan.

Any other thoughts?

First - order a unit in Homan to Defensive stance. Then clik "set all to defend". This should cancel out any residual movement orders.

Then (not having the map in front of me) - try ordering units to another Japanese BASE to the east so that you do not have to go through any Chinese occupied hexes, or failing that any Japanese base to the east. See if they move it all (i.e. - if miles marched starts going up). Do this with a combat unit (not HQ).

If this fails, try moving to a spot, say 2 hexes east (one not occupied by any Chinese).

One other thought just struck: make sure all computer controls are OFF for everything. Even one little area of computer control can have unpredictable effects (in my experience).

So, did any of the proposed solutions get your guys moving?[&:]
