Negative factory rating

Post by lll »

Bought the game yesterday.
Start playing as Russian I put in production 1 infantry and 1 artillery unit in Leningrad. I noticed the factory show up negative what is the meaning. What is the consequences of negative factory? Do I have to cancel the Heavy Fleet due in Spring 1941?

there is a good chance you invested in research first. research will take after from your factory points and then when you go into your real production screen you have nothing left and if you try you'll get negative as you described.

took me awhile to figure that out. now I juggle between the research and the production screen in order to get the units I want produced in the right place and still get the research done from other places.

You only have 2 production points in Leningrad, so with 2 land units and the fleet you are ordering more units than you can produce. If you leave it in the negative, the computer will choose for you which 2 units advance in production. You can either disband the fleet (left click on it) or you can put it on hold (right click on it). Putting it on hold gives you the option of restarting production at a later date (another right click). Disbanding gets you 1/2 the resources back, but since only 1 has been spent on it to date and it rounds down, you won't get anything back. The only disadvantage to keeping it on hold on your production track is it makes any research more expensive on your heavy fleets, but I doubt you'll be researching your Russian Heavy Fleets. Hope that helps.

Whoops, I didn't know that. I thought research expense depended on how many units were actually on the map. Good thing I read this thread. [:'(]

Hehe - for a long time I thought the additional supply cost for fleet movement was *per extra area moved*. Let's just say I wasn't very much into moving fleets around a lot ;)
