Any idea when the patch will be ready?

You would need to have 24 F4F-4s to upgrade. They need a full allotment (and if it is an upgrade for a CV fighter group, 30 or 36 depending on the carrier. Once you have that, you then need to wait 0-3 turns for the normal replacement cycle.

Not quite on the mark Jeffs. You actually need to have slightly more than 24 in the pool to upgrade. The program requires about 30-34 planes in the pool before it will upgrade, say P39s to P38s. It was a purpose design to have a few replacments left over to handle any losses. With a 36 plane unit the pool will need a little over 40 planese before any upgrade will occur.[;)]

A before save and an After save would be dreamy.

Is it a bug or a design feature, that always the US planes strike first? If its not a bug then it is a deficiency, because as I experience things are not happening simultaneously. If the first US strike is succesful, much less jap planes are participating in the attack. No to mention the dramatically decreased CAP.

Hello...
Neither. Japanese groups attack first. The groups attack in the order they are in the database, in each of the three air phases. Attack resolution is, however simultaneous (every one takes off, at the same time). If you have given orders such as: Naval Attack (Primary) and Airfield Attack (Secondary), then your planes do not attack in the first air phase, if there are no naval targets. They sit and wait, to see if any task forces are spotted. If your opponent has given orders such as: Airfield Attack (Primary) and Rest (Secondary), then he will bomb you in the morning while you are awaiting orders to attack a task force.
Hope this Helps...

Thanks! So would it be technically possible have a CV TF fly Airfield Attack in the first phase, but with the 'retire allowed' option on, use the afternoon phase to retire from the scene?
