Any idea when the patch will be ready?

I sent Mike a Care package on Sunday. I dont have an ETA at this time on when he will be able to work on it as he is currently splitting time with the upcoming WitP patch as well, not to mention his "day job" working on Matrix's up and coming title. [X(]

Hi there !

See my Post to " Bug reports & problems" entitled " Flying/Grounded Submarines Sc.11" posted on 4/11/05. Cannot provide any further info.
Similar problems were fixed in other Scenarios somehow on patch/es previous to 2.30 ( according to my game "read me" ).

Would be nice to have this one cleared up too!

Thanks.

You would need to have 24 F4F-4s to upgrade. They need a full allotment (and if it is an upgrade for a CV fighter group, 30 or 36 depending on the carrier. Once you have that, you then need to wait 0-3 turns for the normal replacement cycle.

Not quite on the mark Jeffs. You actually need to have slightly more than 24 in the pool to upgrade. The program requires about 30-34 planes in the pool before it will upgrade, say P39s to P38s. It was a purpose design to have a few replacments left over to handle any losses. With a 36 plane unit the pool will need a little over 40 planese before any upgrade will occur.[;)]

Thanks for the explanation on the upgrade. My F4F-3 group also shrank to 8, without any apparent reason. They too seem to have stabilised at that level.

Cheers

Here's some bugs I noticed:

I airlifted part of a base force from base A to base B (to get some air support there). Later I airlifted rest of the same base force from base A to base C (whole of it, since it had no heavy equipment) and got a message about subunits merging. When I checked next turn, there was no part of the unit left at A (as it shouldn't), the part I had sent to base B was still there (changed to full unit by name, but not strength), but no part of it in base C where the parts there were supposed to be merging. I checked the master list and there was no sign of the unit except in base B. It seems the missing part did go to the replacement pool and came back in two weeks or so, but to Noumea.

I take a TF, move all ships to another TF, use a back button to go back to an empty TF, then press the next TF button, and end up in TF 0, with 3000 ships (the database size?), and while I only see the names of my side ships, the types and damage of all ships is seen.

For some reason I got 900+ Devastators added to pool midgame.

Nik, do you have on your list units not drawing supply? I have a Marine unit I fast transported to a base, there are supplies availabel there but they still show 0 supply and they seem to defend like they are out of supply( not completly sure, my opponent quit attacking at low odds). This unit has been there for a week or more.

Yes, do you need a save? There are three units there, 2nd Marine Raider with no supplies, an EAB unit with no supplies, and a Bass force with lots of supply. The base screen shows that there are just over 2x supplies required.

yes yes yes.

creating these saves myself is a time consuming process, more so when i'd rather be playing FarCry. [:D]

A before save and an After save would be dreamy.

Sent just such two files to U2 on this very issue a couple of weeks back. Is he just a strawman or are you not on speaking term (not that I'd blame you - I know what these Swedes are like![;)])

Don't know if this is even a bug, but it seems, uhm, a tad odd to me. Below is a screen of newly recaptured Rossel Island. The place was roughed up a bit compliment of the US Navy before the Ozzies went in. Notice the damage done to the lvl 1 port, the lack of supplies (nonwithstanding the fact that the TF landing the 17th Bgd. actually carried 700-800 supply points - and no, it didn't go to the LCU), and the absence of engineers.

The following day, the pier is now repairing itself. Is this to emulate the efforts of my Oz infantrymen or erstswhile natives toiling for the Allied cause? Try bombing a base with no troops at it, and you'll see the same result.

Is it a bug or a design feature, that always the US planes strike first? If its not a bug then it is a deficiency, because as I experience things are not happening simultaneously. If the first US strike is succesful, much less jap planes are participating in the attack. No to mention the dramatically decreased CAP.

Hello...

Neither. Japanese groups attack first. The groups attack in the order they are in the database, in each of the three air phases. Attack resolution is, however simultaneous (every one takes off, at the same time). If you have given orders such as: Naval Attack (Primary) and Airfield Attack (Secondary), then your planes do not attack in the first air phase, if there are no naval targets. They sit and wait, to see if any task forces are spotted. If your opponent has given orders such as: Airfield Attack (Primary) and Rest (Secondary), then he will bomb you in the morning while you are awaiting orders to attack a task force.

Hope this Helps...

Thanks! So would it be technically possible have a CV TF fly Airfield Attack in the first phase, but with the 'retire allowed' option on, use the afternoon phase to retire from the scene?
