A couple of questions

Post by pjrivera »

I'm playing my first game as Axis, and have some questions.

1) Aircraft range.
If I have an airplane with range "3", why wont it move 3 spaces all the time? For example, a heavy bomber in Scotland does not move 3 spaces.

2) Supplies in transports
I have a transport off the coast of norway. I cant move it out of there, because at the beginning of each turn it's filled-up with supplies, left by the computer in it at the end of the previous turn. How can I avoid the computer filling up transports and leaving supplies in them? Or how can I move those transports?

3) Firing at Militia
Why is does the computer keep firing at militia after hitting them once? One hit is all it takes to kill them...

I'm sure i will come up with some more questions, but those are the ones I have for now.
thanks

1) Some sea-zones have double lines and require two movment points to cross. Look at the map, and notice how some of the sea-zones off of the UK have one line, but most have two. To cross these, it requires two movment points.

2) Turn off auto/area supply (in the options screen) and move the supplies yourself. (Yes, I am serious - I certainly do that).

3) I am not certain what you mean by this though I do have a good idea. Could you post an example so I know what exactly to reply to please?

OK. here is an example
The enemy has 1 militia and 1 infantry
My units attack, hitting the militia once, and the infantry once.
One of my units has not fired. When it fires, it shoots at the militia, instead of the infantry.

But why? Militias can't be fixed, so they should only take one hit to be eliminated. Why shoot at it instead of the infantry.?

The units randomly assign their targets (within some rules) before any firing is done. This is rarely the optimal - but its a clear design decision as far as I can tell. So, 2 of your 3 units did target the MIL and only one did target the INF. Now, had your first unit missed the MIL you might even have been happy the second fired on it. Its just part of the randomness of the fights. Also, you have to consider that the units fire at the same time so you cannot say that "one hasnt fired yet" despite the way it might seem to be so.

My personal guess is that its because its already pretty easy to attack - and making the "target selection" even more optimal would make it even easier.

You are right, targets are selected before firing begins, and excess units pick their targets randomly.
