TCP/IP/LAN Estimated Release Date?

Post by Doobious »

Any guesses as to when the network feature will be released?

I sure hope it has a chat feature! [:D]

Might I suggest just using Skype for chatting (voice + text). It would seem unneeded to me anyway to spent dev time on making a strong chat feature when its so easy to just use whats in 3rd party already.

Why use a 3rd party program, when it SHOULD be built in to the game, just like EVERY other TCP/IP game. Some of us dont want to go looking for 3rd party programs, when the game we bought should be complete......with a chat feature if it allows online play.

I'd agree with the 3rd party thing...simply because TCP/IP is an after thought addition.

Right outta the box feature yes ... benifit add-on to increase the games desirabilty....no.

If you want voice chat I see absolutely zero reason for any game to include that. Neither here nor for any other game. Its simply much better to let a dedicated 3rd party handle that. Less development time AND better results. It also means you can use the same 3rd party voice chat for any and all games and dont have to learn a new one for each individual game.

If you merely want a simple text chat box it doesnt phase me either way. That could be build in without taking much time or cause many headaches.

Oh no, not voice chat, just a small easy text chat feature for when one of you needs to quit, for surrendering, for talking crap.etc.

Voice chat is fun though, I'm sure Fazman would've learned a bunch of danish curse words by now if we played with Skype on [:'(]

yes it will have text chat; with seperate commands to chat to the players on your side or even just one player.

Voice chat will be done by utilizing other 3rd party apps like Teamspeak, Ventrillo, Skype...

We are not setting a date yet, we have not started testing yet. I'll be keeping you involved as we add new testers and move ahead.
