Detailed AI Improvment/Cheat Request

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Detailed AI Improvment/Cheat Request

Post by siRkid »

I recommend that when the AI is the defender, that the computer set the AI troops up already deployed and in a strong position. Have the Troops and cannon already in line formation and the Cav covering the flanks with the supply units properly dispersed and then don't have them move until the battle is joined.

Good idea for helping the AI in detailed battles!

A problem might be the games recognition of who is the defender and who is the attacker, the end of battle summary seems to have no reasoning behind its use of the description of attacker and defender.

I like that idea. I would also like to be able to deploy my troops in an area on the map like you do in SPWaW. I'd like the computer to roll to see if one side or the other is surprised, and if a side is not surprised, I'd like them to be able to choose formations and where to deploy in a certain section of the map. A surprised side could get auto-deployed in either column formation, or fortified or sentry mode.

The only problem I see with it is how do you get the troops out of fortified mode if you have all of them in it? I did it by accident one time and I couldn't issue any moves to my troops after that. The AI got to go over and over again until I got defeated, since all my troops were in fort mode. Does anyone know if there is a command to "break" a cycle like that so you can try to "wake up" troops when you are in that situation? As far as I can tell, you have to have at least one unit active so that you can have a chance to put your cursor over a sleeping unit and press the appropriate command key.

This is my experience too, you need to keep one unit active. The opportunity to "break" the automatic movement cycle would be quite useful, if you change your mind about automatic resolution of a detailed battle there seems to be nothing you can do about it at the moment.
