What kind of bird is SPWW2?

To play SPWW2 unstead of SPWAW?

I have played Combat Missions and SPWAW and started to make a same scenario for both. Someone praised SPWW2 being more exact and verstile than SPWAW. Now I have tryed some scenarios against the computer. Everything seems to be the same as in SPWAW except no sound, my Razer Diamondback is lazy and the map looks ugly except on large scale.

In past SpwwX was designed to armor-combat whilst SpWawX consentrated to both armor and infantry. Don't know status of new SpwwX. FYI.

Don´t underestimate SP2WW2 V7.01 my friend![:)] The games runs smaller screen resolution, thus the more ugly graphics, but the generated maps are far superior to what SPWAW generates (..unless a skilled map maker gives a helping hand [:D] ). Also there´s lots of varity in the graphics, OOB´s ect. I´ve not tried scenario designing with this SP version, but it´s my preferred choice for generated campaigns.

How is your converted SPWAW (from CM) scenario progressing?[:)]

As RockinHarry said dont underestimate SPWW2. There are differences and in some cases for scenario design SPWW2 has some limitations. Buildings are an example of this limitation. Other aspects of general terrain building though are better.
You really have to look at teh thrust of the two games. Determine which game suite you specific purpose for your scenario and go that way.

Just few days ago got my hands into SPWW2. Well, it's much 'older' game than SPWAW. Graphics is not so smooth and it reminds me a lot of Steel Panthers 2. Seems to use it's engine.

The good features are an amount of carefully created scenarios and campaigns. It's still a playable game, but to enjoy it you have to get used to it.
Don't be shocked, I AM funny.

I am looking forward to "WinSPWW2".

Aside from cosmetics the main differences between SPWW2 and SPWaW are in the op-fire, suppression and "infantry-breaking" routines.

Op-fire:

With SPWW2 you will always gets lots of op-fire from all units in range. The phasing player's units will even op-fire in response to the op-fire (if that makes sense). However, none of this extends beyond the allocated shots of the units involved. Whereas in SPWaW you have the various forms of "Special Opfire" which can produce a lot of extra shots.

I am honestly not sure which I prefer. My main grievance with both is that you cannot tell your tanks and AT guns not to shoot at infantry ...

Suppression:

Suppression in SPWW2 is an exact science. Shoot N times at a unit and it will become pinned. Get to P and the unit will be routed. At which point you know for certain that no return fire will occur and therefore can do what you like :) In SPWaW it's all a lot more random and you have the "retreating/routed unit fires back" thing.

Rallying in SPWW2 starts with the superior commander (e.g. platoon) and works down to the individual squad/vehicle. In SPWaW it's the other way round.

Again, I really don't know which is better.

Infantry breaking:

SPWW2 infantry is MUCH harder to break. You usually have to pile on endless firepower before a squad will retreat. In SPWaW just breath on them and off they go.

In this respect I much prefer SPWW2.

Other aspects:

SPWW2 is less buggy in terms of gameplay but more buggy in terms of "system" problems.
SPWW2 has more slots available for everything.
SPWW2 can do slightly bigger maps.
SPWaW has much more varied terrain types available.
SPWaW has a much better and more detailed armour penetration model.

IMHO you are missing out if you don't play both :)

OK men, I'm a newbie to this awesome set of games related to Steel Panthers.

I have SPWaW version 8.4 ... I thought that was the latest and greatest. IS there other versions that are just as much fun for playing against the AI and PBEM?

Also, what is H2H?

Also, is the new SP-MBT a good game? I looked at it briefly and it looks interesting. IS it a solid engine for running on Windows 2000 and XP?

Please direct me to a web site where I can read about all the differences, features, etc. of the various flavors of STEEL BEASTS !!!!

THANKS

Hank

Yesy, yes. But you should play WinSPMBT under windows 2000/XP
Also after WInSPMBT patched the developer will start with WInSPWW2
