Sanbox mode

Post by Apathy78 »

I am trying to setup a sandbox association and ran into some issues.
If there are more then one team from a location, i.e. 2 teams from New York with one in one league and one in the other, how do I know which one is in which league?
When I import the teams it will exclude certain players. Is there a reason it will do this?
I am using the 5.2 database and it works well with the Historic Replay so I don't think that is a problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Apathy, I ran into the same problem when I was creating my first Sandbox Mode. I was putting into effect a Decade of Champions where I created a league containing the last 10 winners of the World Series (1995 - 2004). As you may recall, Florida won twice (97 and 03) and the Yankees won several times.

The way I did it so that everyone fell into the mythical leagues I wanted them to, was by giving the teams (before the player import) temporary names as placeholders. For example, after selecting the league format, you come to the screen where you can name your association, leagues, divisions and teams. Here, I gave the teams a temporary placeholder name, for example FLA 97, FLA 03, etc. and selected the appropriate region.

Next, when I reached the Home screen I selected Players and then Import Real Players. I choose the appropriate details (year, team, etc.) and then before clicking on "Import all listed players", I go to the Team Import Options below and from the drop-down menu, select the placeholder team I had created. This way, I know where I want them to go. You then also get the option to rename the team appropriately (that checkbox appears once you select a team from the drop-down menu).

Using this, I had no problems setting up my association and you won't either.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the response.
How can you change the region name?
In that drop down box it was listing the region i.e. New York, then New York again below the first one. It wasn't listing the actual team name.

Did you have the same issue with not all players getting imported when you import the entire team? It would not give a error, just something like "27 players imported 2 exceptions". I noticed that it then dropped those "exceptions" into the free agent pool.

I think I was doing it a different way. I went to the Import players / Teams link below the draft link from the home page. I'll try doing that from the players page.
Thanks.

You don't actually change the region, change the City name.

Yea I went to add a new region and put a "A" or a "N" in with the team name.
Thanks.
