General Question

Gary Grigsby's World At War gives you the chance to really run a world war. History is yours to write and things may turn out differently. The Western Allies may be conquered by Germany, or Japan may defeat China. With you at the controls, leading the fates of nations and alliances. Take command in this dynamic turn-based game and test strategies that long-past generals and world leaders could only dream of. Now anything is possible in this new strategic offering from Matrix Games and 2 by 3 Games.

General Question

Post by Korzun »

Hi all,

my name is Korsun and I´ve got a demo version of WaW. Basically I have three questions:

1) Do the game designers create patches accordingly to the buglist of this forum ? If so, I think thats great for the game will develop which is a reason for me to go out and buy it. (Unlike other strategy games that were full of bugs and nothing happened)

2) Which is the newest version of the game ?

3) I only played matches against the AI. I wonder whether there is AI-initiated Lend&Lease ? (for example AI controlled Western Allies give Supply Points to the Soviet Union controlled by myself)

Hi all,

my name is Korsun and I´ve got a demo version of WaW. Basically I have three questions:

1) Do the game designers create patches accordingly to the buglist of this forum ? If so, I think thats great for the game will develop which is a reason for me to go out and buy it. (Unlike other strategy games that were full of bugs and nothing happened)

We try, periodically, to look at the bug list and fix problems we consider to be important. We're lucky to have a very good player (Jan) that is doing a great job compiling bugs and save games for those bugs so that we can try to fix bugs that are found. We spent a lot of time working on the TCP/IP patch version of the game which put us behind schedule, but we hope to get back within the next month or two to look at some of the recent bugs that have been found. There are few if any bugs that are critical to gameplay as we have already released several patches that fixed the most important bugs, but we'd like to fix the others anyway. We also have responded to player comments on game balance and realism, and have made several changes to improve the game. This will also continue as we find things to tweak. Of course you should hear from some of the players and get their opinion as to whether they feel we are as active as they wish we would be (or expect us to be).

2) Which is the newest version of the game ?

The 1.040 version is the most recent official patch. There is also a 1.070 beta patch available which added TCP/IP capability and made some significant balance changes. The TCP/IP version is still buggy and needs to have a few critical bugs fixed (that's why it's beta), but the balance changes in PBEM and AI play seem to be holding up ok.

3) I only played matches against the AI. I wonder whether there is AI-initiated Lend&Lease ? (for example AI controlled Western Allies give Supply Points to the Soviet Union controlled by myself)

Yes, the WA AI is programmed to give Lend Lease to the Russians when it thinks it should. It should happen especially when the Soviet player is low on supplies.
All understanding comes after the fact.
