Doesn't Matrix sell the game to Best Buy? If they do then Best Buy would eat the loss. If not why would Matrix allow there game to be sold at such a loss?

I remember this discussion somewhere before. I think Matrix just supply the games and then the store can sell them for what ever they want and then give matrix part of the sale price. Of course it is everyone's interest to sell at the highest price but if the game is old and not selling they just want to get rid of it for any price

I believe in retail its called a loss leader. They may price an old title or item at a loss to get you in to buy something they might make alot on. For example if you came into get a really low priced game you might also see a sale in a digital camera and decide to buy it. This is common practice aroung the holidays. Matrix cant do this since they only sell the CD-Rom and are a smaller company.

Enjoy HttR - carefull - that game should come with the warning sticker "seriously addictive" [;)]

When you're hooked and desperatly want a new "fix", you won't hesitate to buy Conquest of the Aegean at full price [;)]

I second your sentiment. If we don't support their efforts, it won't be long before they are no longer able to supply us with such great games!

Long live Matrix Games!!!

See thas why Matrixgames no longer hardly has any retail product. Haha People like the OP buying a game for a penny. You should be shot! hahahah Now I at least pay .99 cents for them (EYSA). hahahaha I got HTTR for $17.99 at Gogamer during Christmas Holidays. I thought that a fair price. I wanted it for my collection. I still haven't played it yet, opened the box, looked at the first few pages of the manual and then tossed it over on the unplayed games shelf. I have so many wargames the simulation really has to hit something I'm interested in or it's hard to even load the thing on my hard-drive. I've got HPS Gettysburg Campaign and Eagle Strike still sitting in shrink wrap as well. I tried their Pacific Battles Squad Battles series and wasn't too impressed, so, the others I got still sit waiting, waiting waiting. And then I read about the AI in HPS titles and they get to wait some more. lol

Between Combat Mission series and SPWAW it's hard to play anything else. Two of the greatest games ever.
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik! ;) and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

That would have been one of the 2003 Retail Copies of v1.00 that were released and long since paid for. A few do still pop up from time to time and that's a bargain if I ever heard of one!

However, the current digital download and game on demand versions are better (IMHO) in that they are fully updated already and don't have the more intrusive Retail copy protection which requires the CD. Plus, purchases through the online store supports Panther Games and Matrix now rather than back in 2003, but we appreciate the support in any case. [;)]

Welcome to the community and enjoy HTTR!

It's actually very easy to start playing very fast. Instead of saying yikes to the daunting looking manual, jump into the tutorials right away. You'll quickly see what I mean.
